So can bands really organise gigs themselves?

So, yes, the debate about selling tickets is endless, we all know that. So what's the other option? Bands organise their owns gigs, split the rent and then split the profit. I need feedback please, cause I might try this. Just want to hear people's opinions, why it'll work and why it won't. Thanks. Also if you could, tell me the rent/hr for some places. Also, we need to apply for licenses right?

Cheers,
Stephen

Why not? Been there done that for quite a few times.

But if you are thinking profit first or just even how to break even, you can forget about it because you should not be asking such a question here.

Reason? you need a very smart and clear headed mind of what is going on if such a thing is happening. Also, you need to be someone who believes in himself so strongly, not someone indecisive.

Lastly, do the Adidas and Nike.

Well its depends on what you mean by "work"

If profiting from a DIY gig is your intention then it probably won't work
unless you're selling tickets or somehow someone is paying you for your
performance.

If you just want to gain some exposure, get some experience running
a show, negotiating with venue owners and etc... or just plain o'l having
a good time playing music, yeah, of cos it'll work!

of course can. there's no law saying that gigs can only be organised by licensed gig organisers or anything. there's no such license to be a gig organiser, all you need are the contacts. in fact, many gig organisers are in fact part of bands.

obviously to make a gig you need
1) someone who owns a venue
2) someone who owns equipment
3) bands
4) an audience (optional)

it is a very simple plan and yet so difficult to execute, so it doesn't help to overcomplicate things.

nothing happens for free. if you want someone to give you money or resources to make your gig happen, there has to be something in it for them. it is up to you (the gig organiser) to convince your 'sponsor' that he will gain something out of it. thats called business.

you can't except blind support or free lunches. you reap what you sow. you get what you pay for. (more cheesy cliches to follow).

easy shit. DO IT.
