SG appreciation thread

That is a beauty my friend.. No point GASsing, just do the "A" part of "GAS"..

Which Supreme you prefer? The one with P90s or Hums?

I think the Deluxe is also darn cool.. 3 mini humbuckers.. Wonder if that's the only SG with mini humbuckers? Hmmmm...

Ohh.. Well subtle differences anyways.. They all fall into the same category; SEXY..
Haha.. Yours is a Special right?

Everdying:
Supreme bro? No pickguard looks damn awkward man..
The SG Junior looks cool.. I don't mind getting that one!
Or the SG Deluxe.. Or the SG Custom..

What's an SG Elite?
Yup mine is a special and i do agree that after owning that axe for about 5 years the finish has aged really nicely.........I DIG HAHAHA!

Honestly SGs and getting more and more popular nowadays..........which is a gd sign yet bad at the same time.........don't all SG owners wanna be special?? lol

Nice.. Mine is also kinda aged.. It was Hub4Thailand's workhorse; now it's mine! (And I love every single ding there is, gives the guitar more character)

I just don't get the serial no.. It starts with 92, so I thought it was crafted in 1992.. But it is actually from 1997..

Wahaha godspeed my man.......real beauty u got there......well it is always cool to have some battle scars to claim that it's yours bro......Well as for the year ur sg was made doesnt matter lah cause gibbys ade in the 90's are really gd.

I don't get your explanation! :???:

MrBukka: YESSSS.. Tried many Gibbies made after year-2000, and gosh they weren't what I expected.. Some of the Gibbie SGs I've tried were outdone by my mere Chinese Epiphone, which I consider myself lucky in obtaining such a good piece... The 90s Gibson on the other hand, is another different story.. Just holding it and you know its pure quality.. And I'm serious about this fact: upon playing just one overdriven note on the Gibson, I knew I had to get the guitar..
:mrgreen::mrgreen:

1st and 5th digit gives the yr.

Even though i think that 90's gibbies are real gd, but 2000 onwards gibbies are not that bad imo what they lack now is consistency, if they can get that fixed gibbies now will be as gd as what they use to be................Oh and of course not forgeting the ever rising price hike lol..............due to that i could never afford a really expensive 1st hand LP,SG or ES bummer.........

buy first hand for wat?
none of my gibsons i got brand new...
the only 2 guitars i have now which i bought brand new are my SX SRV ripoff strat and epi G-1275 double neck.
the G-1275 solely for the reason that i have never seen it sold used here, probably cos its so cool no one wants to sell theirs off :P

I'm not a gear head but I've gone through a whole lot of SGs and there are some made even after 2000 that are really good, it's no doubt a tedious process finding a keeper but it's possible. Here's one example - (my favorite axe, an SG of course :}) Pardon the messy wires.

Late '66 (large guard) type reissued Gibson SG Junior finished in Wine Red. Fat neck profile really contributes to the tone of this beater! Extensive mods to be done by the end of the year :]

omg.
u got one of those juniors.
i remember musiciansfriend sold them for USD399 2-3yrs ago, and i wanted one.
then suddenly the price slowly went up til it hit USD699 :P

btw, is there any kinda pickup route under that large pickguard?
cos seems like a waste to put the large guard when they could've gone with the early 60s style small guard.

Once I enter NS next year and obtain my own income, I'm gonna save up and add two more SGs into the list!

Gibson SG Classic
Gibson SG w Single Coils (Guitar-Of-The-Week)

The Junior looks interesting, but I won't wanna miss out on a neck pickup too!
And I've played the GOTW, and almost bought it.. Maybe next time it won't elude me!

And after that maybe an American Tele.. Haha.. Need something different.. Got SG with hums, P90s, and Single Coils what else is there man.. Oh yeah! Mini humbuckers!!

Btw bro that is a really beautiful Junior.. Take a pic of both of them!! Where'd you get them from?
