Ah ha Edder!

EH speakers I see! By Eminence some more!

I'm curious to hear how some Eminence speaker models can replicate the V30s and Greenbacks and the current rave among Guitar speakers... The Bluebells.

Let me know ya. :)

I dunno how it would compare boss cos I've not heard of em Bluebells and even if I did, the comparison wouldn't be valid thro different amps different speakers.

BUT what I can say about the 12VR8 is that it made the JC50 more "solid" and clearer. Less of the piercing highs. All this was done years ago so my memory may fail me ahhh....

The elcheapo 10VR8 that I modded on my Vox Pathfinder naturally gave it BIG bass cos bigger speakers and made sound much nicer. I feel that it is the SIZE that made the biggest difference here.

Lets all go for handphone repair internship!!

Those fellas can even solder and unosolder those SMD with gabajillion legs and contacts!!!

I hv got the eminence greenback clone lol... Hmmm, cant compare it to any other speakers, as the previous was the gt12-75 which i didnt like. Also im running it in a 2X12, whereas previously was 4X12...

But its nice lah, lack on the bass abit tho. But no piercing highs at all. Hvnt break in yet i guess.

Tried my friend's alnico blue, wah lau its so nice n creamy lor, v warm... Makes my speaker sound sterile lol

Greenbacks have less of the lows and upper mids compared to V30s but they all don't have the same kind of low end response as the G75s. This is the Classic Rock tones.

Now if you want loud tight bottoms and razor sharp highs kinda like the Metallica/Zakk Wylde kinda kindred spirit then just go for the loudest speakers. If you can find speakers louder and more efficient than Electro Voice.... go ahead! :)

Yupz, martin electronics.... I posted b4, but now they ran out alr

I was supposed to order weber alr, then one day i went to buy tubes, i tot just ask again lah if they got guitar speaker, n they had 3 left. So i bought 2, n i think the last one was taken up by another softie.

I noe the auntie had eminence for a few yrs alr, but always bring in the hifi speakers, always ask her abt he guitar speakers, she not interested to commit. SO, i was so surprised that she had them earlier this yr.

Price 140 for 1 gb128, thats the only model she brought in btw

Have nv heard the real greenbacks, so i cant comment on how gd it is

Weiht Martin sells 10inch ones right?
i almost got 2 of those while getting wingC 6l6 tubes 2 weeks back.

there was also a 15inch eminence speacker if anyone is interested..

Clean Boost Pedals
Regarding recent enquiries about clean boost pedals.

For cost effective simplicity I would highly recommend that you get a drive pedal like a SD1 and get it modded for full body so u get a neutral volume boost without tonal loss in the bass and low mids. This would be useful at the end of your pedal chain before the amp's input jack.

There's also the other Clean Boost option of increasing the output (not the distortion) of a drive pedal and shaping the overall tonal character for either flat or mid hump and patching it early among your drive pedals. This creates a different type of boost that kicks up the gain of the drive pedals patched after the clean boost.

Clean boost pedals are sometimes confused with Volume Boost functions because it depends on whether the amp u are driving is set for super clean on the verge of saturation. In clean amps settings the boost will be a raise in volume whereas a boost in front of the almostsaturating amp will drive the amp into different degrees of overdrive depending on the clean boost pedal's settings.

Another very versatile clean boost pedal is actually the Eq pedal like the GE7. With an Eq pedal you have the added option of assigning as a clean clean boost, a mid hump boost or a treble booster by the shaping of the individual freq bands. If noise becomes an issue which happens with stock pedal there are mods to fine tune the freq bands and zap out the hisss.
