Paying to Play - How do you feel about it?

aiya.i mean diy as in book your own shows lah.do shows not for the money but for the passion.stop covering stupid bands.write your own songs.do your own demos.im not asking you to be a freegan lah...

yes, theres something which sound more accessible. But sadly, anyone who do shows, not for money, the first criteria is to have lotsa money themself to plunge into doing so.

Lets all learn to love(yes, love is what i mean, not the F word) the root of all evil, money! Dontttt chooooo alllll deny thattttttt!

in context with the thread here i mean.

For the diy(especially to the lioncity hardcore diy) people, i have utmost respect for them. Coz they do, not talk on forum selling too much idea of anti capitalism what ever grand idea they might have.

if writing a few slogan on forum can make a change, i wud have change the world to all cheena pop music by now and make everyone listen to it 24/7!

anyway, drifted a bit liao, lets move back to the thread!

Wooooohooooo, pay to play! If your music is as generic/heavy/unique/simple/nothing/artsy fartsy as whatever other bands we can find anywhere, then you deserve to pay people and let them give you a slot to play instead of people paying to watch you!

respeck?? AHHHHHHHHHH, i regret writing that, coz after i think bout it, its quite torturing if i have to listen to 93.3 whole day long. I prefer more of 100.3 actually.

sorry

wah this thread damn happening leh....

How did aging youth start? I HEARD hor.... cos a bunch of friends who apparently couldn't get any gigs and then hor... they just got together and organised their own gigs.

And then hor they got bigger and bigger and people started complaining about them organising gig for friends only.

Ah... They started buying us beer. Yes, we are that easy.

Like our goot fliend, Harvester from the Metaltronic forums who hates us to da (metal)core and calls us "Aging Youth cunts" (pardon my French, bro SOFT bro.) as we dun cover much metal and do any metal shows.

We do but no self-respekting metal band would wanna be featured on a web-zine which background colour is pink with dashes of tangerine and maroon... Yes, we are all metrosexuals. So very few metal acts do approach us.

It's hard to sell metal shows to venues. Seriously.

Maybe we should tear this Harvester guy down and expose him eh?

Do some metal gigs la???? why you diss metal bands?

Ah, it's our friend Kash again. When are you going to send your e-poster for your event over to us to help you in the publicity?

We almost did once. But we work with venues which don't do metal shows.

Why don venues want to have metal gigs??? Doesn't it seem more manageable now compared to the old days...there is not much damage..Even the Espalande allowed a metal band to play recently. Gas haus has been having so many metal gigs.....

Hmm.

I might be generalising here, but let's just look around and understand what kind of genres gig-going people listen to.

Because the question is: would metal gigs sell well?

And also: in comparison to a gig featuring another genre e.g. pop rock how would a metal gig compare in terms of sales and positive reaction?

And we probably shouldn't use response on SOFT as a gauge as to how well people in general would respond, simply because SOFTies represent only a certain demographic of our nation's population.

Hurhur, bro azlan bro, we sent in a proposal. We got rejected for that. Hopefully, later in the part of the year lah eh?
