Paying to Play - How do you feel about it?

dont like the deal dont play the gig.
in the fist place you all agree to play for what?
obviously he will tell you the terms.
so just stop complaining.
start opening your eyes to real life matters. cos there are millions of people who are suffering. so just help the ones you can and stop bitching about your lives.

i've once suffered the same situation as "anyhow"(he worte a thread on page 10 that clearly explains the idea i was trying to bring out all along, i know my english is broken but refer to this thread, he stated clearly what i was trying to do all along)
like he had said 30 x 20 x 10 + items he forced the bands to buy = not enough to cover the rental cost meh?

he is juz selling us off la, u all still can call this a scene? pisst.
i've once organize gigs at community centre where last time CC allow us to organize gigs there, me and my mates pay thousand for half a day cost and more then 800bucks for equipment and we onli charge 4-5bucks per tickets just for the people, rather then force bands to sell tickets, we ask nicely and seek help from the band who were willing to help us promote selling tickets.

I didn't read the barrage of replies concerning this thread but I think paying to play is a bit hard on my wallet especially after since I've spent most of my hard earned cash on achieving the sound I want. Just my two cents. I'd perform if it's free, fun and just for exposure.

Payola is very common in the world. As much as you want to rant against it and how you want to complain agst bro X-TREME bro, there will be always some other kids who are hungrier than you to take up his offer.
Despite his status that he's with Gas Haus, we donch know what kinda deal he's signing with Gas Haus.
Anyhow, a contract is signed between 2 person and he doesn't need to register himself as a company or have a company license. Firstly, if your friend doesn't pay up, no worries about the cops though. It's a civil case, not a criminal case. The cops wouldn't be able to do anything to him.
But if X-Treme takes it to the subordinate courts under the small claims tribunal act with the contract, your friend will have to pay for X-treme's damages and potentially the legal fees incurred by X-treme to get that amount from your friend.
That's the reality of a contract lah. He signed it. Unless you've got some really good grounds to contest it, it still stands. No judge will take the reason: "We are students! How can he expect us to sell 40 tickets at $10 each!? We can't sell and we won't pay!"

how u feel mr.SOFT? like you'd said in singapore we are juz small band, low profiles, no on ever cares about us, so if got oppurunity juz grab dun complain, but if this happens to you how will you feel?
and itz happening right now.. to bands that gotten fooled cuz they wanted to lived their dreams so much..
