whatever happen to mutual understanding.contracts are dumb.

contracts aren't dumb. contracts are a way to save your sorry ass when you're a gig organiser and your bands can't even pull in a decent crowd.

if you don't want to sell tickets, then don't play in gigs where you have to sell tickets.

Organisers on the other hand, should stick to what they promised, like agreed timeslots and equipments, with no last minute changes.

Someone mentioned that in a gig his band did not manage to play in his allocated timeslot but kena last minute shifted to a few hours later, now that imho is poor management on the organiser's side.

A band is obligated to turn up and play once they agreed to the gig, but at anytime the organiser try to pull some stunts by changing terms or timeslots without consulting the band, i feel that the band is free to pull out since the old agreed terms are no longer in existence.

Not only performers need to be professional, organisers ought to be too. Both parties should deliver what they promise. Can't agree with each other then don't work with each other.

my 0.2 cents

look what I've missed out in soft... hallo everybody!!

I briefly went through the thread yesterday. Guess this kind of thread will keep popping up now and then, and the discussion (arguments) still going round and round.

Don't want to pay & don't want to sell tickets...go to those who offer free gigs.

Don't mind selling tickets or pay to play...well and good.

Don't want to pay or sell tickets, yet still want to play at gigs with such requirements.....very susa, don't know what to say of these people.

But then again, if organizers really really want to help the local music scene and not take advantage of it to make some pocket money, then please don't make things too difficult for the poor band boys. But if you want to make this a business, the gar gar say you want to make money and helping the scene is just coincidental. The mathematics are not too difficult to figure out whether one fleeces the flock or not.

While the scene is getter better by the day, it is also tearing itself apart with much bickering and back stabbing. It is sad to see what is happening around now. Give peace a chance...Rock On Singapore

Man...i think some people are so spoon feeded nowadays. Sign contract, cannot fullfill terms then bitch about it and expect to get off just like that? And i dont see how the organizers is able to force you into anything. Machiam he takes a knife and threatens you to sign on some dotted line?
What the hell, the more i read the angrier i become. "Playsomething" talks like the everyone owns him something like that. ****, you made a choice and it ended up sucky...so take responsbility for it because YOU MADE THAT CHOICE. I dont see how the **** anyone can force you into anything especially in singapore.
By the way, get real. Nothing is for free. Organizers also want to make money no? Like those concerts you been to...its also about money. Why dont you **** them about the ticket prices instead. Wah Lau eh, i really **** think some people are just too bloody sheltered.
And right i agree. **** emo indeed.

in time to come..if people still dont grow up..organizing gigs will be the last thing i'd wanna do..

i've had alot of frens who had to sell tickets..altho i cudnt make it..i still bought from them tho.but gave it to sumone else.heh..

basically most of them are able to sell the 30 tix..sumtimes there's a shortfall..shit happens..well..they pay for the shortfall..

but they play harder on that day to get their money's worth..i guess.

DISCLAIMER: This is just a tongue-in-cheek statement (pls note the   ).. the real person might not be as described 8)
