Opinions on emo

Bin4christ : I get what you mean. Neither do I wear stuff pertaining to metal fashion but I'm quite sure this is what the hardcore purist metalheads feel.

If anyone is to blame for emo, it's Bryan Adams!!!

Read Wikipedia's defination of the genre. Now the music has evolved until eveything seems to be "emo". Purist will laugh at u!

actually if emo is going to become more popularised ;soon i'll be ashamed to feel depressed because it all seems so fabricated . i dont even know what im talking about here.

i think i get some sense of what emo music is. there's some punk influence in it right? the music's quite 'hardcore' right (albeit emo fans dressing up as sissies)?

i had a friend who told me emo bands are bands such as keane, coldplay, snow patrol, etc. that was why i hated emo so much.

imo emo music is way better than the music of snow patrol n etc. the latter seems like they're just disgracing their instruments. but sadly it's those gay bands that are getting big nowadays.

Hmm definitions might clash. perhaps i,m viewing this in a wrong sort of way but just because their songs are simple and more or less incorporate simple powerchord progression. does this mean their music is bad?
Sometimes music shines in its simplicity. The ramones just threw in a bunch of powerchords and they,ve been famous ever since. Some blues musicians play it slow. but they groove so hard that they,ve become legends. Music is good in many ways. A rocking guitar , drum , bass solo can really get me high but sometimes simple is good.

Something i,d like to clear since WHEN was keane , coldplay and snowpatrol emo? Keane and coldplay are keyboard based bands. We dont see a resemblance to metal at all here do we. Neither are their lyrics anything close to pain , blood , knives , killing oneself.

Like i said. i might be a bit harsh in my words.
You might not like mainstream music but dont group them together with emo music. Its like grouping My chemical romance with iron maiden. which are 2 entirely different things

hahah i think if you do that panz3rr, more people will become emo. lmao.

in my opinion, we should just leave emos alone. they wanna slit, let them go ahead. if we happen to have friends like that, all we can do is advice them. there's really nothing much we can do, can we? heh.

as for those "oh i'm so emo i think slitting is so mothercool" idiots, we should just also leave them alone. we don't disturb them, they don't disturb us. world peeeeeeeeeeeace (piss, rather.)

on another random note, look at how the times have changed. emokids nowadays are probly the exact damn opposite of the hippies back in the 70s. only diff is that the hippies are going their way out in supporting their cause while most of the emokids now seem to be only concerned with the fashion sense of the trend.

we're probly currently in the 'post emo' (yea, i made this up) phase right now where ppl tend to dress up like a typical emo kid but aint sad and stuff like that. thus, i hereby conclude that these 'post emo' kids are actually just typical scene kids which have been misunderstood as being an emokid due to their dress sense. hahaha. chris carabba, the dashboard vox aka original emo posterboy will probly die from drowning in his own tears just by looking at the current post emo trend. if u guys wanna cringe just for the heck of it, read up on chris' lyrics man. and no, i dont like dashboard's stuff but i do like laughing at them.

on another random note again, i'd rather be a hippie than an emokid. at least, they've got led zep to boogie with aye. not forgetting getting high and merry everyday on weed and other random plants.

btw, if im an emokid, i'd probly cut myself too just cuz my music sounded so bad. LOL! :D

ps: carmen, don't angry leh, next time we smoke together. but not at the busstop, later kena fine. heeeh heh hehee :P

Jesus H. Christ! I didn't know Gary Lightbody was gay! But they've been getting the chicks from what I understand.

How are they disgracing their instruments eh?

it's mass commercialism that makes it all look bad, then again, it's commercialism that pays their bills for their mansions. PROS AND CONS

emo is the new pop. its a new form of sellout to youths. its being marketed by various forms of media and brands for profitting purposes.

so while we rant about how emo is bad and all this huu-haa, it doesn't change the fact that people marketing emo in the form of today's emo are laughing their way to the banks...

my musical influences are rock and metal and i don't fancy the new emo genre of music and any styles which has its cliched sounds. together with the fact that many youths are dressing up and sporting the fashion of the marketed emo (makes it kinda similar ro pop in a way), its no wonder why it is being bashed so badly by people who apprciate rock/metal and people who're against pop culture...

i'm personnally against emo for what the media and big brands have portrayed it to be, not because its fun to do "emo-bashing".

who's fault is it that made the emo culture bad? i think its the people who market this fad whose purpose is to profit from their target audience...

i love progressive rock like js/vai/dt

AND

i also like emo stuff like hawthorne heights, taking back sunday & mcr

emo is cool.

but i still disagree with the wrist cutting part

i love hawthorne heights man! their current album rocks from top to bottom! :D although the older one is abit messy. have three guitarists for what, when only two are playing at any given time? :?
