Beginner Bassist wondering How Jams work

Hi there! I just found out about this forum.. would like to know a few things if anyone could help...

I'm 25, currently on my second month of juggling bass as an interest as well as my studies.

I would love to know how the whole thing of finding a band works. I know 2 months may be too little of experience for most to invite, but I'm wondering for those that form a band (for leisure, not performing), how does it usually work during jam sessions? Do you guys normally book practice studios? Or is it something else? And are costs normally split among members? And also since I play the bass, if I were to reach out to others, what would I need to bring besides the bass; cables/amp/etc? (p.s total noob here)

I'm also curious for those interested in mandarin songs for bass tabs, how do y'all find those online? I couldn't find many as most chinese music sheets are in jianpu, and I'm not that good enough to transcribe those songs myself.

I would love to connect or plan playing sessions (solely for leisure as I find the bass deeply stress relieving) for those that are also maybe starting out newly... maybe in the future or so when I get better....

Current skill level is being able to play this if anybody has the same interest of learning instruments while connecting: https://www.songsterr.com/a/wsa/beatles-all-my-loving-bass-tab-s2820

Dear Xuxui,

With the exact profile of musicians who want to explore and curious about playing together, I started a meetup group few years ago and it has been fun. Generally, we will list down some songs for each session. The members rsvp and practice those songs and we jam together. Of multiple people on similar instruments, we take turns.

Forming a band is a connection at different level. You need to find members that not only play at your level but also develop good connection.

I know that some members found each other in such sessions and went in to form their own bands. Also generally the jammers are fun and will be more than willing to share their experiences with you.
I am planning to hold the next meetup on 23Aug.

You are welcome to join ---- The meetup group link
