MI Crunchbox opamp swap

hey people,

anyone tried swapping the opamp in their MI crunchbox? any particular recommendations for chips? yes, am definitely going to try the JRC4558. any other suggestions? no idea what sound i am going for, i'm just in the mood to mess about.

leo fender probably didn't had a choice then and just say... oh lets just plug in that garden variety dual opamp.

Err, so how's the swap? I have been quite irritated by my Crunchbox's high mids lately. Uh.

ah. tried a TL072 and a JRC4558... the TL is really a different kind of animal altogether - not too sure if I liked it. Went with the JRC and have been using it so far. Not much appreciable difference IMHO, have been intending to swap back to the stock LM chip to see if I can spot the difference. will keep everyone posted!

not too sure about them mids tho - just played a show on NYE thru a Fender Twin Reverb, and I was shocked to hear all my mids go missing! *gasp* but I reckon I had a bum amp that day - rental twin reverbs are always hit or miss IMHO.
