Live 'n' Loaded - Episode 2 on 3 Feb 8.30pm!!

Eh my Sec Sch friend Shigga Shay (Rap) is gonna appear on Tues!
www.myspace.com/shiggashay
Do check him out!

That's right! Shigga Shay was actually at No.2 when we tabulated the online ratings on Friday evening, while the band Waiting For Nothing was No.1

But last evening, we received official notice from Waiting For Nothing that their vocalist is unable to make it for Tuesday's live show due to other commitments otherwise known as "national obligations". Pity. Therefore, Waiting For Nothing has withdrawn from Live 'n' Loaded. We wish them all the best nonetheless for their future path in the local scene.

So here we have it, this coming Tuesday, it's going to be a great show:
Vertical Rush "Your Last Song" & "Spaceman"
A Vacant Affair "We Are Not The Same"
Jack & Rai "The Falala Song" & "Fiona"
For This Cycle "Wishful Thinking"
Eden State "Crash Into You"
Finding Michelle "Mr Brightside" (The Killers cover)
Shigga Shay "Mama Told Me"

Be sure to also log on to our website at 5.mediacorptv.sg/livenloaded to watch the seperate webcast show hosted by 987fm DJ Soo & Jonny! Make sure u signup so you can participate in the live online chat as well!

If you're one of the lucky ones with tickets to the studio live show, do remember to bring along some cash so you can purchase the very limited edition Vertical Rush and A Vacant Affair x Revoltage tees!!!! The tees are at $50 for 2!!

Also, CDs of Vertical Rush and A Vacant Affair new releases will be available for sale!

i'm going & it would be better if AVA plays Cresfallen:)

We Are Not The Same is the new hit single maaa... so must showcase and promote the new album. Haha!

It seems like it's going to be a GREAT SHOW!!!! I'm staying home to catch this! Erm... screw Prodigy's gig! Haha!

ahhh ..this series reminds me of the good old days when I made apperances on "Its your move", Gurmit World, etc ... when SBC (as mediacorp was then know) tried to support local acts ...

Kudos to them & a hearty break a leg to all bands involved ....

Boon! Is your band gonna be on Live N' Loaded anytime soon?

If ya, then I can't wait for it man!!

Kudos to whoever thought of, planned and are managing this whole damn thing, this Live N' Loaded show! Mediacorp and whoever they are partnering with. Good job, guys!

Yes, involving the kids in a healthy activity such as music (or at least create an opportunity for them to appreciate local, contemporary music), be it the bands itself or giving out tickets to the audience, is indeed commendable!

And the best thing is that it looks like it is well-organized and well received! From the feedback on this forum, the production is well-done, the marketing is slick (it is nice to see actual Live N' Loaded people post and answer questions/feedback here - it shows a sincere effort). Thumbs up!

I suggest that Live N' Loaded continue inviting and showcasing the established, polished acts like The Great Spy Experiment and Electrico, so that these fantastic bands are continuously exposed to the local and foreign television audience (foreign as in foreigners who happen to tune in, whether they are staying here temporarily or just in transit).

The pace can be adjusted a little bit IMHO, Utt sounded like he was rushing off to Changi Airport to catch a plane back to Bangkok cos his cat back home was about to give birth.

And perhaps make the show a bit more interesting and diversified by including (other than hip hop and rock music) progressive electronic bands or something? Just a suggestion.

:D

Hello everyone @ Soft!

We rush because, although it's not an excuse, we try to squeeze in as many acts and as many songs we can within the given 46 minutes. So you know each performer is limited to 3mins or so. I do beg your pardon for Utt rushing through things, we'll improve on that in the upcoming episode. For those who are coming to watch the live recordings, you are in for a bigger treat as we will have pre-show performances and also post-show performances that are not shown on TV. If you log online for the webcast, you might catch snippets of it.

Yes, we will be featuring other genres of music like electronica, post-rock and others in the upcoming episodes. We have Muon, Wicked Aura Batucadas, also trying to hook up something with The Analog Girl. It's not easy when the mass audience are not familiar with such music & genres, especially when you put a performer up onstage and perform for 3mins without singing, but purely cues from laptop and keyboards. So we not only have to convince people internally that this is what maketh modern music, but also need to engage the TV audience with our content.

It's like this: When Jools Holland brings in the ethnic tribal performers from Africa or cultural performers from the South on his show, the kids who are waiting for Thom Yorke & Radiohead to perform simply go "WTF????".

For Live 'n' Loaded, although the same applies when a rapper goes onstage and a rock music fan in the audience goes "WTF???? Where are the guitars man?", the difference between Jools Holland and Live 'n' Loaded is: We are showcasing & supporting local talents, we're not educating people on music. I'll leave that to MySpace and the bigger powers of internet.

Thanks to everyone for your feedback and you know we're working on it. Do send your support for Live 'n' Loaded to this email. Live 'n' Loaded right now runs for 10 episodes this series, it's not much and surely not enough to cover the number of local acts we have here. So do keep the show alive by writing in to show you care and you want it: promo5@mediacorp.com.sg

Since you've asked, we're going to upload ALL the performances onto our website soon, so you can download them as mp3 files or you can stream to watch.

This includes extra performances and rehearsal footages as well.
So for episode 1, the extra stuff besides what you've seen on TV are:
- The Great Spy Experiment "The Lights" (encore)
- Ling Kai "Volcanoes (Damien Rice cover)"
- Ling Kai "Larkin Step"

As for repeats, I'm sorry that Episode 1 will not have a repeat due to the fact that it was on the Chinese New Year week. But from episode 2 on, you can catch repeats on Thursdays and Sundays if u miss the Tuesday live telecast at 8.30pm.

Cheers!

Hi Wanye,

Speaking on behalf of the band, the reason for pulling out is due to the commitment of my vocalist to the national slavery (or most would know it as NS). As he is still on course, he is not able to obtain a leave since this event is categorized as "personal interest". Hence, it is with a heavy heart that we have to withdraw from this opportunity.

Regards.

Hi guys,

Regarding the Revoltage x Bands tees, they are on sale this Tuesday evening at the Mediacorp Studio 1 venue where the live recording takes place. It is only limited to 80 pieces per band design.

Any extras that are leftover from Tuesday evening will be sent to the Revoltage stores and be put up for public sale.

So if you are heading to the studio for the live show, do remember to grab it on your way in or out! $50 for 2. $30 for 1.

Remember, we make no revenue off the tees. It's just a simple gesture by Revoltage to work with the bands and support the scene by laying out the initial tee printing costs.

Next week, we have PLAIN SUNSET tee up for sale!!!! Design will be out soon!
