High Gain Distortion Recommendation

Hey softies.

I'm currently in search of a High Gain/ Metal distortion with really good tones.

The one's that i've used before are either too sterile or "pedal-sounding" for my liking, these include the Hardwire Metal Distortion and the Keeley MT-2 (Personal preference)

The pedal i'm looking for is one that i can use alone on my clean channel, giving me heavy modern tones, such as those on a VHT or an Engl.

I understand that that is a very ambitious expectation for a pedal, however, i believe there are actually pedals out there which fit the bill.

The ones i've heard and like alot are the Toneczar Openhaus and Wampler Triple Recstortion.

However, price and availability are the limiting factors.

Thus, it would be great if you guys helped me on this!

Recommend me pedals. Share with me your own metal tone setup. Anything to help me in my quest for \m/ tone.

Ryan.

it may sound weird, considering the artist, but i use the vox satchurator for metal and anything rock. it's simple, and the tone i'm getting from it is quite awesomely good.

MutantBanana and Nabeelmashren - Thanks for your suggestions. I've tried both the satch and muff before and their not really my thing.

krank distortus maximus...thumbs up from me from past experiences

or the barber dirty bomb....its been having good reviews recently but ive never tried it though

both available at tymusic at peninsula

he mentioned that he's tried that before hah
i'm still using it

i really think to break that limit a pedal won't be able to perform significantly better

the next step is really amp distortion

I personally find better luck at stacking pedals over pedals and carving out the tone with an EQ pedal but that's just my personal preference, heh.

i think sansamp GT-2 will be a good one since it's a preamp / amp modeller.. and it sounds very crunchy n versatile

FiS - Yes. I'd look into those suggestions. Especially the Krank. It sounds pretty convincing! Thanks.

leecs - I've already tried the Hardwire bro. It sounds sterile in my opinion.

Macca - Yes amp distortion is ideal. However, i want a portable solution that i can use during jamming too.

PatheinRaindropMoe - For home practice. The amp is the second part of my problem. I'm currently using a Peavey Envoy 110 and the clean channel is not to my liking. Thus i'm currently looking for an amp with a solid clean channel so that i can build my distortion upon that.

Thoa - Yes i have thought of that. Any pedals that go well with each other?

Shinodax - I don't think the sansamp is high gain enough. Thanks!

i tried the Krank before and i found it very disappointing hah

reminds me of the subdecay blackstar, which i didn't like either

Krank maximus did receive good rep in guitar magazines however its like what the others say. Nothing really unique. The price you pay for that thing is really not worth it..

Chow go for the Dirty Bomb.

anyway, imho

save up, go for the openhaus and wampler. Dont settle for anything else, if really liking the former 2.

Lotsa time, we wanna find something else to make up for it and after going round spending money and time, still longing for the things we wanted originally.

Thanks for the recommendations guys.

Yes Pathein, i understand where you're coming from.

Well, the Wampler isn't out yet.

As for the Openhaus, the only way i can get it is direct from the site right?
