Some pedals I got. More or less this is my setup during those weekend gigs. Sometimes the Power Stack gets swapped with a Crunchbox.

all the guitars are shorter scaled right? ( < 25.5" ). Shorter scaled instruments always make me feel weird. maybe cos I have fat fingers.

any reason why the preference for shorter scale instruments? If there were a 24" Stratocaster, I wouldn't mind trying at all to hear the tonal differences. Longer scaled instruments are a lot harder to play compared to shorter scaled ones. I used to own an Ibanez RG1077XL. Tiring man. The tension on the bass strings was awesome but you have to sacrifice on the high notes a little. give and take but I wasn't liking the compromise.

I did have a strat copy back then as my first guitar but always struggle. I almost lost interest playing guitar until I got a Mustang as my "real" guitar. It's shorter scale increases playability and got me acquainted faster with the fretboard. But then you are right, it does not sound tight as longer scale guitars. Reason I installed HBs in them.

I also did experiment with string gauges until I settled with 10s. Just the right amount of tension. I tried 11s but with the way I play, notes does not ring well and yes it is tiring.

The Cyclone is the closest thing I have to a Strat. But with it's scale, it does not sound like one. I guess the sum of all parts makes a Strat a Strat. =)

haha same here. I can't do without a HB or at LEAST a P90 in the bridge for my guitars. Love the fatness you get from them(although the p90 isn't THAT fat). nowadays can't do without a single coil in the neck position. One of my other favourite sounds from my guitar
