My new favorite for 2011. Sounds even better than it looks.

ash = good alright but with rosewood combo..... I didn't really like it. it sounded really trebly the last time I tried such a guitar. Of course, there would be exceptions along the way.

there is if all you here is the top end.

the human ear is such that they get more receptive to the bass end of the frequency as the person ages, it's either this or they get deaf to this end. at public gatherings/ live shows, the bass could be excessive but nobody minds. if the treble gets a wee bit too much, everyone covers the ears.

I used to have a Tele partscaster which was a combination of ash body and rosewood fretboard. I don't seem to recall having trebly sound issues with it. That's probably due to me using the tone knob most of the time to get different tones...:)

There is one point to ponder about though. If guitars with Rosewood fingerboard and Ash body are so good, why aren't there many of such guitars out in the market? If that is the case, is that clarity a good or bad thing for guitars?

I love Ash + Maple especially on a tele for that "extra" twang. I haven't had a chance to try a Ash + Rosewood guitar to come to a conclusion.

If guitars with Rosewood fingerboard and Ash body are so good, ...

doubt if this was discussed or concurred by anyone along the way (if it was, i would have missed it... getting old). we were just talking about how certain body/ fretboard wood combo manifest brightness which is favoured by some of us, while others prefer other selections.

Judging from the replies, it seems that most of the reviews for the Ash and Rosewood combination are good. I was just wondering why so many people are favouring such a combination but no manufacturer is producing such guitars.

If I'm correct the mark knopfler sig has ash and rosewood, some G&L models have that combination too. I'm sure there are others but I'm not sure of the exact models.

My wife is glad that at least I'm not spending the money on booze and girls.

Yes. Indeed.

The G&L looks great man. I see you've got the ltd run HT-5 too.

Sigh.. Ram and Carol always make me GAS for new gear haha.
