the only similiarity the RGT6EXFXBK and RG421 have, will be the basswood body, shape and frets. The RG421 was a bolt on basswood RG with fixed bridge, all Gotoh hardware if I am not wrong.

i think this new model is more similar to the RGT42DXFX, main differences being the inlays, the black hardware and the EMGs. otherwise, they are quite the same - both set neck, fixed bridge 6-string RGs. but i would prefer the sharkfin inlays...

but if i'm not wrong, these neck-through models likely have gloss-finished necks, which is not favoured by most Ibanez users who are used to the satin feel.
