haha subversion, so are you a classic guitar->amp player?
anyway, sorry to interrupt, but could someone explain whats a buffer?

Buffer:

High 'Z' or high impedence outputs don't travel well over long distances. Buffers take in high impedence and outputs low impedence which travel very well over long distances.

Well, let your ears decide.

I rather not bring big names into the picture because at the end of the day, its not going to affect me decision if my ears percieve otherwise.

If I had to absolutely use a buffer, the bloody thing better not change my tone in a negative sense, which is the case with boss/ibanez/morley buffers so far. My DD-3 is irking me very badly need a true bypass pedal to knock it out.

Lovepedal had a cool mini buffer out... very nice device, 1/2 the size of an mxr size box, and 1 knob for up to 5db boost. Very nice. But it was a limited run.

Look out on evilbay. Sometimes Sean put a special run there. Like how I got my Mini Dragon/fuzzface.

Fender Highway1

fans of the Highway1 guitars, WEF fall 2005, these instruments are equipped with the new Greasebucket circuitry, which lowers the high frequencies without adding more bass, when you turn down your tone knob.

is this buffer a pedal or what?

Not neccesarily. You can put it in an existing pedal, which is how Boss does it, there's a buffer in their bypass. The standard tubescreamers have a buffer before the tubescreaming circuit. Or was it after, I'll have to go check again.

You can make a buffer and put it in a pedal. Like the Axes buffer.

You can make a buffer and put it in the guitar, like how some active circuitry in guitars work.

Preamps are essentially buffers too, with variable Db gain.

A buffer is just a circuitry, you can put it anywhere you like.

i just got a planetwaves chromatic tuner. really good thing i must say! built like a tank and serves its function really well. it's quite responsive and very accurate i must say...and it's SMALL!

saw the planetwaves pedal tuner at PS Yamaha, list price at $115. After the 15% storewide discount, its $97.75. Slightly more than davis, went down to davis today and they say its out of stock :? haiz...

you should have told me you're gonna get it within this week- i could've arranged something for you (with Davis).... this is an initial shipment, very limited quantity :smt069

I thought most conventional tone knobs just shunt highs to ground without affecting the other frequencies? :?:

a conventional tone knob doesn't add any more bass actually, they just shut off the treble. however, Fender is trying to say that with their circuitry, you'll hear something different.

do take note that some Fuzz pedals HATES buffers.
