Yo Paul,

How much u spend on Dimarzio 5-way, K7 blender and CTS (500k ?)pots? Any reasons why change the pots and selectors? Is the original of poor quality?
Thanx!

the selector and pots were abt $50 [more or less] excluding K7 workmanship, Jay. i figured the original parts would wear out fast under my utility [4-5 nites a week on stage]. i went with 250k CTS pots, may try out 500k in the future. Jay, the 72RI + Fatal Tube OD thru JCM800, yummy.

hey sub - nice blondie :) i was so tempted to go maple again, decided on rosewood instead. been 12 years on my maple Am Std, a nice change now.

Man, I can't wait to hear clips of ur new strat wif Fatal Tube... kalau nak jual balik call me..hehehe.

That CTS pots and K7 sounds tempting...mine is a DIY strat (light weight ash with Birdseye maple neck). Recently just installed HS3 & YJM pickups..love it..courtesy of Beez.

Man, that Jimi Hendrix bag is super cool....got free from Davis isit?

not for free lah bro, but a really good discount from janet on the Jimi soft-case, yup its cool :) K7 sua Jay - its reversible. the bridge+neck blend with volume at 5-6, is getting me that Grandfunk 1974 Live tone, Mark Farner's early 70s Dean w/ p-90s.

i'll try to hit some clips of my K7-ized Strat, busy with painting and shopping/shifting prep for the new house. Man of the house, thats life :)

8O ....that's balls of twang!!!!!!!!!... really love the K7 sound!!

Thanx for the clip , bro.

To subversion, the Jap ST72..are those made of ash like the originals? I've seen on the market , the 70s reissues made in Mexico, Japan and the latest is made in America...
What's the made difference in specs between Mexican 70s reissue & the American ones.. I saw the price varies a lot.

nope- ST72 is a basswood make. IMO this is the strength of this guitar because the vintage default pickups is reacting well to the neutral body, i hear a healthy bass response coming from it- the reason why i bought this guitar.

the 70s American Vintage model is the latest (2006) offered by the manufacturer & it sits above the American Series & American Deluxe, in terms of price. it is offered in 2 body wood types alder/ ash, compared to only the ash version of the 70s Classic series (mexican). the Am Vintage version also offers a more accurate Alnico V pickup set as oppossed to the Alnico of the Classic version.

@Jay - np bro, though i must say, its way way much juicy thru the JCM800 n gear live. much more juice and dirt. also some MIJ strat info on this site http://www.mijfenders.com/index.htm

same reason here sub, i was also considering the ST-68 w/texas specials [alder body], did a shoot out between the 2 myself. the ST-72 vintage coils reacted better, a certain midrange from it got my decision. well, thats just my preference between the 2 models 8)

good to know- i did likewise 8) to me the 68 was missing a certain warmth, the tones from it are kinda harsh.

+1 for those cali series

its been outta production??

my friend grabs one of it while back... and man it was dirt cheap yet plays great and the sound is nice!

was impressed as well

cheap ... dun haf la... value for money... you can try blues jr.. but if you want traditional fender tube clean... the Deluxe reverb is awesome. souljah snagged one for 1k at swee lee sale man ...
