Well... yes, you really wouldn't know till you put them in. Everyone plays differently, not mention how much body wood, string guage, pup height, etc etc all play a part...

Reason for reading is to get an idea of the tone... like doing a survey.

There's really no shortcut man.. you are new, so all you got is to read and to listen... then make a choice. There's gotta be a 1st step before walking or running.

Not necessary to get a pedal yet.

but i guess the emg pickup alot won't gif me a very heavy distortion though. i have been playing guitar for maybe a year.. and i go for jam sessions.. n theres some palmmute which nid a heavy 'chuck' sound. i nid a pedal.

so what u suggest actually?

Ibanez TS7 or Boss SD1.

Both can help with giving tight heavy chugs on a distorted amp.

You don't need a LOT of distortion to have a nice solid chug... unless you are talking about earth shaking uber saturated chug like Meshugga or something.

but a ltd ec-50 (emg 81/60) wif
metal muff or digitech deathmetal..

any1 tried them or use them?

would it b a good combination for heavy tone/ distortion/ overdrive?

songs lyk trivium, as i lay dying, atreyu, bfmv? etc etc.

uhmmm....

shreddy(hahahaha!), I'd reckon he should get a chugga chugga pedal.

I don't reckon he can get a consistant good sounding distorted amp in the jam studios.

is the EC-50 your only option? I'd stay away from agathis bodied guitars, but thats just me

if possible try to get the 400 series, its kinda a safer bet

hmm.. i called davis n they said they only sell all the -50 series ex, m ,ec. thats why i said a ec50. other then tat are those esps i guess. what do u suggest?

although meant to somewhat "emulate?" mahogany, most ppl who bought the agathis bodied LTDs commented the tone wood to be lifeless sounding.

perhaps you can get a used ibanez RG321 for the price?

ah..guitarnub..the fault may not necessarily lie in the wood.well..maebe the quality of the wood..and wads been done on the wood may have caused it to be like that...

tts juz my OPINION.

frankly..i prefer agathis over alder.hehe.

oh man..

hmm then.. can anybody intro me guitars tat are of a budget of $600 - $800. other then the ibanez rg n epiphone? any other tat suits more of a metal like tone?

i've come across agathis bodied Squier/ LTD guitars which are very impressive tone-wise. do account for the pickups which are default in the guitars.
