Boutique Gear: When did you fall for them?

try it with a tube amp, and you'll beg to differ. there's a reason why people base their designs on THIS pedal, and though it sounds 'pretty standard' on a solid state, it's marvellous on a tube amp.

Tried before. Its just not my tone. Compressed and all... every one else likes it though, more power to them, i'm over the TS phase.

well, this again is not a boutique od pedal...just something mass produced.

Thats why boutique makers add better components and TB to the original design. Speaking of which, you might want to check out www.cmatmods.com tubeslammer pedal. Cheap stuff, with everything ts9 and improvements.

Anyway, its not my point that the TS is horrid or something bad, its just the norm.

nickyseow, nothing fantastic about the TS... its just.. a sound that people are used to hearing so its become THE tone. ;)

MrBen, I think MrE is the only SOFTie (possibly only Singaporean) to get the Blackstar.. it should be here in 1 wk.

Dont see me so up lah, cow.... it's just one of those things you end up doing when you're on ebay late at night slightly intoxicated and very depressed.

buy more pedals you don't need!

wahahahah... well! STUFF happens. 8)

Like when I was looking for a more transparent OD to replace the TS9DX on me board... I though, ah, Boss BD-2 then mod it lah...

And then someone just posted "FS: Blackstone....."

The buy-BD-2-then-mod idea went to hell and I torn my pocket deep and wide.

BUT. No more pedal buying for me... for a while...

Hehe. Jia lak, man. I'm abit obsessed with Lovepedal's stuff.

Negotiating with some TGPers for a Eternity... :smt003

I also want a COT. Help help..

Shred, thats what they call phase 2 of GAS, I guess. So how, manage to sell the Hellbilly? Actually, it might increase even more in value, considering Bob Mcbroom has retired for pedals making.

Order and wait lah... :P

Well, there were a couple of offers, and I might be taking one up. Will see how.

Yeap, bob retired but well...

wha-la-mak.
letting go of a ts9? u gotta be kidding man. haha that pedal really packs a punch, or well, mine does.. the analogman's ts9, sexy. haha.

Haha I know what you mean la, it has emotional attachment, but then I got the TS-808, which frankly sounds almost the same.

Depends on how you look at it la, TS is a way to get THAT sound. With a great clean tube amp it works wonderfully. I'm sure there are many similar ones around la, better or not depends on your taste. Some people would like the Ts7 cos it has a bit more gain, but then traditionalists would rather the ts-9/808. So depends what you're looking for la.

Ya actually I was thinking of ditching the Keeley, for the money its worth, quite hua to sell la. Haha. Honestly if anyone here wants to buy a keeley, go try a J&H first la, I think its a more hua buy. :)

Whoops, forgot to unquote for Shredcow's comment. Haha, guys I'm sure you can see which part belongs to me la ah? Noob mistake. Sigh...

i use a J&H and a marshall JH. i wont let go my marshall JH because i like the tone i found, but i may mod it. it's rather bassy. but the J&H is damn nice! there's so much stuff i can play on with it!

Send to randolf for a mid switch mod!!! 8)

Does he do that? Yoooo hoooo Randolf!

The J&H on IC Chip right? Can swap it around too...

you guys don't find the mids lacking on the J&H? gimme some settings for it lol.

quite, but i use it more for rhythmn, then boost it with the jekyll channel. more fat

IC chips? mmm i wanna try making my own dist unit from hand, learning all these electronic stuffs in school. i never liked turning both on, sounds much worse then the Hyde part IMO. this is why i want/need another dirtbox :(

I usually use Jek as the boost for hyde in solos. Gives you a lot to cut through your band, in fact hyde gives me so much more variations that my keeley ds-1 a bit useless. I play mostly bluesy stuff, so the Jek side good Im happy liao. I mostly use hyde for rhythm too. Like Shredcow said, can go mod it. I'm not sure if Randolf does it, but I've seen it being done on the net. I'm sure he can work around it, doesn't look complicated.

Maybe play around with the EQ and tone settings, I find it relatively fat when tone and EQ is about 12 o clock or less. But I'm sure you can tweak your amp to give you more mids, compromising a bit with the clean tone la.

Haha sometimes when I play with Jek too long, I forget to tone down the volume and when I play rock, I use it for the solo boost, it gets bloody loud. Fierce la.

SKINK!!!!!

Wah lau eh...I know this will look silly but whatever la...I dont take drugs..:

Anyway heh...I bought the J&H sometime ago and sold it off after like 2 weeks (I'm a bassist). I used the Jekyll for 'mid boost' and grind, and the Hyde to rape my guitarist. I mean, to play lines like Muse's Hysteria. I'm curious. Do you know of anyone modding the J&H so far?

hahah so many posts by u :P

anyway i love the tone when both channels are combined in the pedal. but it gets damn loud if i dont put down the hyde volume and boost it! hahaha

but the jekyll has a nice ts crunch to it too. i always use bass boost, i like it :D

Hey Dudes! Wah some serious gas goin on here, Hehehehe.

Because the JH is based on the TS808 for the OD section and the DIST section comprises a DS1 variant which is more so a MArshall ShredMaster... making the JH very moddable. :D The interesting thing to note is that the OD section is permanently placed after the Dist section. This allows the player to use the OD section as an effective tonal and volume boost.

LIke all pedals out there it requires careful setup of the tone and gain on your amp to experience the best of the versatility of the JH. The rest is in your hands ya. :D

Randolfed JnH modd rocks!

the stock on distortion channle will lack sorta power like that

but the modd brings out the real chracter

the overdrive channel is sipmly amazing

...errrr Thanks! Glad you love it now Namle. :)

Ok guys do be careful with the JH adaptor jack! Please ensure that you switch off the adaptor before pluggin the power in. Trust me on this.

:)
