My bad.Okay it could be that you're not paying your girl enough attention. Maybe unknowingly you prioritise guitar and band and music and stuff above her, she feels it and she's not happy. Or maybe she's the type who needs your attention 24/7 and can't stand sharing her bf with another (i.e. your guitar). In any case, it's better to talk calmly and ask her to HEAR YOU OUT and see if she can see things in your perspective. Then you see from hers. Then you'll be able to find a compromise. If you can't view from the other's eyes, you can't save it.

haha.. i'd rather give up my gf, but i'd try to work to get to a compromise.. but there are many ways in which guitars are better than girls..
1) guitars wont be jealous if u keep 4 other guitars around the house..
2)guitars retain their curves over the years..
3) certain guitars actually go Up in value over the years..
4) guitars dont nag!!!
5) u can usually get a guitar to do what u want..
6) guitars have replaceable parts..
7) if ur guitar is giving u problems, u can unplug it, destring it and shut it up in a hardcase...
8) best of all, no need to buy contraceptives for ur guitar!!!
ok.. kidding, but in all seriousness, its really up to u.. mayb your gf doesn't understand that guitar is not just a hobby, but a way of life to u.. some things like this can't be explained, it can only be felt.. let ur music touch her heart and she may change her mind...

lol, if its an extreme situation(eg. i reaally love the gf, and she has a valid reason for me to give up guitar), i'd rather give up guitar. But guitar loses to gf slightly only.

i'm not a guitarist, although surprised someone would bring something personal up. I guess I can relate my past experience for this. and yeah I broke up with my ex for recording. cos I didn't want to waste her time/heart. and I didn't want her to waste my time, money (I'm a gentleman to try pay for the girl alright) and heart. somehow I still feel a little bad over the decision after 3 years later. but I don't regret it cos the decision leads to today.
well, maybe as a suggestion you could try write love songs to her or something? maybe she'll be alittle bit more supportive of the guitar thingy?

Definition of passion: Strong, enthusiastic devotion to a cause, ideal, or goal and tireless diligence in its furtherance
1) If playing music is your hobby, go with the woman.
2) If playing music is your passion, the woman has to go.

fgl : that is probably the most effective reason and I can't believe I forgotten that I used that. I used that on my parents (I come from a typical chinese family where "Future" more important than "Passion") about the kind of money I spent on equipment, cos I'm like that. don't drink (occasion only,i'm more of the driver) , don't smoke , don't gamble. I don't even spend it on clothes and I'm still wearing the shirts I wore since 10 years ago (lucky I wore an over-size when I was a kid.) and still wearing my army pants even though I ORDed a couple of years ago (reservist anytime can report sia).
