I just want the compressor to have more of an even-ing-out effect, rather than a noticable lap-steel squish.
I dislike it, that on clean, the thinner strings never have enough body/volume to match with the booming bass strings. Its irritating, hence, I seldom record clean.
With my Randolfed CS-3, it always has a slight lap-steel volume effect, unless the compression is set reaaaallly low, which isn't enough to even out the volume. It also releases too quickly for my taste.
Tried the MXR Dynacomp, some old, script thing, and didn't like it. I see its use in jazz/blues (tone wise) but nope, not going to work for me.
