well it really depends... some of the chinas are a gem - *gem meaning drumset friendly sounding*
as i have explained before, american wuhan cymbals are practically the same as the ones bought locally... they source out WUHAN MADE IN CHINA cymbals, buy them in bulk and specifically told the manufactures in china to make it thin and trashy, print the logo on the cymbals... simple as that..
u see, in wuhan china, theres practically hundreds of cymbalsmiths...
the same thing is happening with the stagg brand cymbals... they buy chinese blanks or maybe even made crashes, hi-hats and whatnots and brand them as their own brand...
if im not wrong Trojan, a local brand, does the same thing too...
oh and i got info from composer of requims that saluda buys b20 chinese blanks.. but instead of the chinese themselves finishing the cymbals from casts/blanks to a finish product, saluda hammers, drills finishes and lathes the blanks to a finished product to be sold as "custom".
so yeah. hope that explains.
