Haha... His shop and garage pretty huge - loads of chinese musical instruments. Was only interested in the chinas though. He was very willing to lemme try like 20 copies of the chinas and I didn't ask, he just took em out.

rendy, was it u the one who called me cell the other day???

anyways which shop did u go to ah? the one at bugis there issit???

do they have bigger chinas? hahaha

hey guys, correct me if im wrong.

that is not a Wuhan china. Wuhan even stated if there's no "wuhan" logo imprinted on the cymbal, then its not wuhan. I bought one 16" at Boon a long time ago. its REALLY loud. thick china.. its very shitty to play with.

well my opinion man.. =)

even if its only $40 or less.. i think its not worth it man..

well it really depends... some of the chinas are a gem - *gem meaning drumset friendly sounding*

as i have explained before, american wuhan cymbals are practically the same as the ones bought locally... they source out WUHAN MADE IN CHINA cymbals, buy them in bulk and specifically told the manufactures in china to make it thin and trashy, print the logo on the cymbals... simple as that..

u see, in wuhan china, theres practically hundreds of cymbalsmiths...

the same thing is happening with the stagg brand cymbals... they buy chinese blanks or maybe even made crashes, hi-hats and whatnots and brand them as their own brand...

if im not wrong Trojan, a local brand, does the same thing too...

oh and i got info from composer of requims that saluda buys b20 chinese blanks.. but instead of the chinese themselves finishing the cymbals from casts/blanks to a finish product, saluda hammers, drills finishes and lathes the blanks to a finished product to be sold as "custom".

so yeah. hope that explains.

@marc: There's some controversy over how much Saluda actually works on the chinese blanks, since some people are suggesting that because it's bought in bulk he can just go through and pick out one that sounds correct. From what I hear, the sound is very similar to stagg. But whatever it is, mine sounds quite good so I'm happy with it.

Hmm I didn't know Trojan was local! You learn something new everyday xP

Ya, I went to the one at Rochor and yes they do have larger ones. I took this size cuz apparently they're thicker than the usual chinas for drumming and larger ones sounded a little too heavy too me.

Well, have a try. I was in the vicinity so I thought... haiyah, go see see and try lor. Now I have to worry on how to make the hole bigger, didn't cross my mind. Haha...

And nop, didn't call anyone from Soft. :D

work with a electric drill and start with small drill bits and slowly increase the size of the drill bits...

if u have the bench drills just give it a one time whack should be okay...

and yeah i think trojan is local. hahaha must check again with ahpek...

carlos is a local brand too!

I have an 18' wuhan china....bought from a fellow softie abt a few mths ago.....however, i did nt have any issue abt the holes......its either he (the one who sold me the cymbal) did it for me, or the stands im using...

aniway, im using a TAMA HC32S.....n it fit nicely.....

after reading the thread, i just realized i always bypass that rochor shop without going in! Damn.. i'm always stuck at the hardware stores :D It's time... it's time...
