Whats wrong with Agathis wood?>

i look forward to the day manufacturers start using "PREMIUM HOME-GROWN WOOD" as a specification to market to eco-friendly guitarist wannabes
 
Good old jelutong is common local muck to us. But to the ang-mos of the Far West, it's as exotic and mysterious as some sacred wood from Tibet or Outer Mongolia. :)
 
Some lesser-known woods turn out to be good tonewoods, though of course its subjective. Marlique uses nyatoh wood for some of its models, though the tone might not appeal to everybody. I personally like it, though. Very warm and bassy tone, but its not the tone I'd use to play metal. Blues and rock, certainly. :cool:
