What do you stack with your Crunchbox?

Cruncher already has a boost built in ya ...
See where it says IC1a >>boost !

Its already done ...just try playing louder perhaps:)

ill take the bb's tone if its placed before the crunchbox anyday!! only problem is the volume boost which i would definetly need. any suggestions? :)

Guitar volume knob.

Set your rhythm tone at Guitar Volume 6-8.

Turn it up for your leads at 9-10. Doing so boosts BOTH volume and gain, which makes sense to cut through and sound strong.

It wouldnt work well if he dosent invest in a treble bleed mod.....but it is effective! gotta get the treble bleed mod for myself too....

Anyways since you prefer the BB's tone placed b4 the crunchbox, why not invest in a clean boost pedal? many great choices, eg goose's boosty, catalinbread serrano picoso, mxr mico amp, cae linear power booster, etc. just try as many as you can and see what works with your setup.

You may wanna invest in a looper too if you need the added convenience of both pedals on (eg the cb and the bb) so that you don have to go tap dancing when you got 3 pedals on to sudden cleans, etc.

i run it through a modded ts-9 by randolf, its the 3 way mod with 3 different funny circuits or some shit haha and another 2 way switch between the standard recognizable mid hump in the stock ts-9 and a more flat out flat eq-ed tone.

my crunchbox is up near 3 or past that most of the times and its basically on for most of my rhythm playing (metal ah) so the ts-9 kicks in during soloz just for the volume i guess.

recently got a bb-preamp and it really sucks when its guitar->crunchbox->bb->amp. you get this kinda really bassy tone which means you cant hear anything on the a and e string on neck pups (emg 85's) and it really sucks. it doesnt go well with certain amps too so yeah.

ts-9 still power!!

I do owned a bb preamp and a crunchbox, even I placed my bb after crunchbox, it sounds nice and kickass, not bassy at all, maybe is your other config?too much bass tuned in your amp,? if u r saying bassy tone...wait till u try ocd v3 with crunchbox. You will be wondering are you playing a guitar or a bass.hahaha

yo thor, i just tried that! still doesnt work damn cant get the volume in nicely!!damn. my crunchbox vol is around 9 o clock, tone 10-11, gain about 3 o clock and bb preamp vol is mAXED, gain is minial and bass and treble knobs near neutral. still cant get the volume boost im looking for man.

to gackt, thats exactly what im feeling!! bass or guitar i also dunno haha.really blows sometimes. and no my bass setting on my amp is low. bass 9-10 o clock mids and treble slightly pass 12 with prescence 9-10 o clock. btw im using a flextone III and the jazz chorus model.

damn!

Yo bro, try to tune yr crunchbox tone to about 4 oclock so that the tone will not be so dull and muddy.your crunchbox is ver 2 or ver 1?if ver 2. also try to increase the internal presence pot a little. That's my opinion. ;)

Haha, When I first started playing, I only have a 10w practice amp with gain all the way up. 2yrs later, the gain became only at 12 o clock. By the time I got my first fuzz pedal, and play my first gig, gain is at 9 o clock. But recently, I've been turning the gain up, sometimes even all the way, but just for fun at home, never in jamming or gig la.

Agree all the way! My amount of gain reduces as i play more over the years!

someone should try the AC booster instead :D

Personally i think the ocd(any version) is not something nice for rock. It's probably perfect for 7stringers as it'll help them get the ummp for metal music. Rock/pop music is generally bright!

oh goose! thanks for showing the CB schematic. It's a double stage amp eh?

Is your volume pot a linear pot? i.e. Your change in volume jumps suddenly past a certain level. If so you should change it to an audio pot.

My post is a guideline - if you need more volume boost, turn up to desired volume (boost) at 9-10, then scale down to your desired rhythm volume level, then roughly remember that setting when you switch to rhythm.
