Walking the Talk - 8 String Content

I thought about the stereo thing - makes sense huh, to get the perfect low end and the perfect top end. But. Eh. Damn leh chey lah. Can I just play guitar not? :P

haha, still i say, more is still more, after that, you can play the geetar as long as you wanna

since already come so far to 8 strings, might as well try it(if possible).

hmmm, talking bout baritone, the cij jaguar baritone i have, while the neck is similar in width to a j bass, its pretty comfy to play with, after a change of strings(came with 25-35-45-55-75-95 string gauge, tune E to E and sounding more like bass instead) and tuned B to B. The scale length is round 28.5'

shreddy, maybe what you need is something like a crossover to split the frequencies.

thinking aloud here.

8 stringers split to low end and high end - individual preamp - mix - output

8 stringers split to low end and high end - individual preamp - individual output to stereo pedals into stereo amps. One for the bottom and one for the highs.

8 stringers split to low end and high end - individual preamp - individual output to 2 different pedal boards into 2 amps. One for the bottom and one for the highs.

CHIBAAAABOOOOOM.

pathein, mine sounded much better with Elixirs baritone set. tight and buzzzaaggga built in fuzz!

ahhh yeah! You did pass me a pack of baritone strings. I changed and resetup the thing, it really improved the playability of it.

Heh, only bad thing left on it is the nut still the same ole.

Bahwhahaha...
You guys ah... I'm just waiting for the pup manufacturer to revert... I bet I scared him off though!

About the scale length... i dunno, the 8 string's neck ah, seems to put a strain to stretches. I'm talking about simple stretch-over-5-frets chords but on the 8 it just seems to be that little harder to do. I dunno if its the extra 1" or the fact that the neck is a paddle.

I got Elixir Nanowebs 0.56 & 0.64 for the low B and low F#.

I like the higher tension. I really do.

I prefer thinner guage because it sounds better (previous set was 0.64 & 0.74...) when the strings are too thick, they don't seem to crunch as well.

However, the elixirs have little... harmonic interaction. You play 2 notes under distortion, the harmonics don't ring mod as much as regular strings - I miss that. However, it seems to work out better since its such a low tuning... kinda clearer I guess. They also sound like 2-week-old strings but I suppose they stay that way forever and a day. Slap sounds dead on them.

yeah shreddy, the elixirs not so lively lah but baritone sets are so hard to get i rather get a set that sounds like 2 weeks but sounds almost forever like 2 weeks old.

Had some modifications made.

Yeap. Stripped the back, sides and neck of paint... that icky, sticky horrid paint thing. Oiled the bare wood. I like it. Huge change in tone. I can't wait for my Oni to come in now... :(

Sort of. But this guitar was a fantastic introduction to the world of 8 strings... played well and sounded pretty fine to begin with.
