Im all the while againts these kind of gigs. Tix prices so high and equipment sucks.
If i'm playing with that kind of system, I might as well destroy the system there.. If they ask me to leave then I'll RIOT!

You can only call my events a scam if a) i promised something that i didnt deliever b) i forced u or manipulated you to perform. If not its called a high class event.

And for tickets price, 12 bucks and 14 bucks would be well spend if the entertainment quality is there. But for ROCKON events, even free, the mosquitoes wont dare to attend.

I still don't see the need to hold on to the students' IC's. Those kids must have been scared upon the mentioning of "bringing to court" and handed their IC's over without second thought.
Given that those players are just students, bearing in mind that $300 meant alot to these kids, this Nic guy should have done alot better, perharps suggested a "pay-back-by date" or even monthly instalments, till the amount is fully recovered? Even if he were to charge interest for paying back monthly, it'd have been so much better than holding on to the IC's and threatening to take them to court, no?

wat nic is doing is standard procedure of any other organiser i see in singapore i think.
he organises a gig,post it up on soft and wait for bands to join and play.
ticket selling is another procedure wif any other organiser.
wat he does is basic organisation. quite straight-forward. thts the tradition happening in most gig organizing here in singapore. nothing wrong wif it. yet.
a band takes part,and has to meet the organiser demands. +1 to wat shyam said regarding young band throwing their own money away anyway. lesson has to be learnt.
now problem is organisers ought to learn and give more than basic organizing. everyone posting here has concluded they want more than basic gig organising.
