wow nice YJM, one common question that is always asked but i would like to know is that, is it really as hard as people deem it to be to play on a scalloped fretboard? and is it really true that vibratos and bends are easier and nicer to the ear?

always wanted to give the YJM a go but never had a chance

I wouldn't say vibratos are easier, but bends are, simply because it's easier to grip the strings. It's very similar to playing a guitar with huge jumbo frets.

And honestly? I found no difference playing a simple strat vs the yjm.

zac: my strat (copy) is scalloped from frets 12-22. i'd say bends and vibratos are much easier on scalloped frets than non-scalloped ones, but fretting is harder cuz there's no wood suspending your finger from going 'all the way down'. anw, i regret scalloping so many frets hehe.

That's an Ibanez strat/RG hybrid. It's not a strat unless it either echoes the exact blueprint of a fender stratocaster, or it actually says stratocaster on it.

my squire strat .

its scalloped from the 7th to the 22nd fret. it has quite a number of chips on it being a 21 years old squire haha. Its a wonderful strat and the pickups are just powerful.

My CIJ Fender strat! just got it about a month ago....

Specs: Alder Body with one-piece maple neck
texas special pups in the neck and middle. Dimarzio Fast Track 2 in bridge.

a versatile guitar with my current pickup configuration, loving this babe!

Ized, you beat me to it. i wanna post pics of my new strat too! its EXACTLY the same as yours..
i am surprised when i ABed it with my ibanez, it seems single coils do retain a certain amount of heaviness when pumped with gain too... (is it just the texas specials?)
and yet less muddy... hmmm.
i'm new in the strat gang, but i love playing this baby clean. just clean, on position 2. i'll not modd it to be a workhorse though...
