The Stratocaster Appreciation thread

Ized, you beat me to it. i wanna post pics of my new strat too! its EXACTLY the same as yours..
i am surprised when i ABed it with my ibanez, it seems single coils do retain a certain amount of heaviness when pumped with gain too... (is it just the texas specials?)
and yet less muddy... hmmm.
i'm new in the strat gang, but i love playing this baby clean. just clean, on position 2. i'll not modd it to be a workhorse though... :)

haha hey keith, awesome! is yours an ST-57-78 TX too?

yeah i just love the strat.....reason why i modded the fast track on the bridge pup is cos my band plays some heavy stuff...its good for palm-muted riffs, e.g black sabbath songs ......

But somehow i prefer the texas specials for soloing......prolly cos of its "hot" and overwound nature the pickups really bite and sizzle....especially when i stack a tubescreamer in front of my primary drive to further saturate the tone and gain....can get a uber fierce shredding tone.....i find single coils a boom cos they sound less muddy compared to humbuckers personally. A big plus is the texas special isnt just a one trick pony, it sounds super good with clean/mild gain too!

I originally intended this babe to be a backup axe to my ibanez s470, but after a couple of jams it sounded so awesome it became my main axe! question in case one might bother to ask: do the texas specials sound noisy when saturated with alot of gain? well in my case, its a NO cos my primary drive has a built-in noise gate, heehee :D

here it is! i think its an st68 actually, alder.
i agree with texas specials too, they surprisingly sound good with gain! less muddy is good!

ah.. :(... im searching for one of the same colour strat... hehe... going into more cleaner tones!! hehehe

humbucker for fat strat

hey people, i need help. I currently own a S-S-H Fender MIM Strat, and I was thinking of changing my humbucker. What's a good humbucker that I can install on a fat strat? Are duncan JBs or 59s suited for strats?

Nice... I used to have one of those. Was lucky enough to find one with some flame on the neck...

Hate the vintage frets on those though...

my squire strat .

its scalloped from the 7th to the 22nd fret. it has quite a number of chips on it being a 21 years old squire haha. Its a wonderful strat and the pickups are just powerful.

That Squier is miles ahead compared to the squiers of today... Congrats on a great guitar! Hang on to it man!!!

hey whitestrat, remember a few months ago i was seeking ur help for a strat? hahha.
i got a white strat. hahaha...
this one is a 2nd hand one... really surprised at its condition. good price too...

i'm a big fan of the stratocaster.. fender really hit the goldmine with this design... what can i say, timeless classic elegant classy design that appeals to both older and younger players... practical, comfortable and versatile... can play blues to heavy metal (jimi hendrix to iron maiden)... thumbs up!

lol maybe i shud paste a fender decal on it since the squire logo is gone then it wud become fender by fender

That's good for you! Those 68s are nice, and the neck is good, since it's quite thin. except the frets. A good fret job will sort it out. Unless you're comfortable with it...

for ever owning only 2 guitars, i can actually adapt to both rosewood/satin finished and maple/glossed finish... i have no idea whats the big fuss i made over them last time. except glossed necks do hinder me a bit... on jimmy finger wraps esp.
that said, i notice u have a new guitar on ur avatar bottom!! which ebbm is that now?

For ALL Strat lovers!!!

I thought I'd try to get all of us together on one page (literally) and see if this thing grows. Hopefully we can do gatherings, jam sessions, etc etc... Maybe a monthly get-together at Crazy Elephants? Some beer and some stratty goodness? heheheh...

the strat design has the P-bass to thank for 8-)

jimi hendrix to iron maiden to Marduk...

Marduk's Morgan Harkensen: the Strat is as black metal as any other guitars...
