The Stratocaster Appreciation thread

I suspect that back in those days, many of the Black Americans could not afford to buy new guitars. Hence, many of the original blues players were using badly beaten up ones.

Now the very rich kids are trying to look like these poor dudes.

ya la, so Tommy E's guits are relics bro....

I think relic guitars offer a v nice worn-in feel...v comfy. Don't own one myself...but I must attest to the fact that I really much prefer Chanmin's homemade relic strat to its predecessor. Comfy for the forearm man...

Unfortunately, life for musicians of all races is a struggle, if and until they hit the big time.

swapped out the neck and bridge for 2 Seymour Duncan SSL7 Quarterpounds for that real fat sounding tone.. heh big thanks to KC for the installation

Nice, I like the white colour scheme of the micro cube. Anyway, does anyone know what dimension is noted for neck thickness as in it feels very round and chunky. Like a full C-shaped neck and the neck feels very thick. What specification depicts neck being thick>?

Anyone owns / played the Clapton Blackie soft V neck?

Im doing one up now ...

I tried the Blackie replica... yeah. the $58,000 one...

yeah... THIS one:

Honestly? I'm not a big fan. I'm a Clapton devotee, but I'd prefer to get my own strat and mod it the way I like...

Dun mind I "hijack" the thread (well it's a strat thread).

For strat's with no string tree at headstock e.g EJ strat, does it affect anything?

doesnt really make a big difference to me. The EJ does have a headstock that has been modified to do without a string tree... i personally think having one is better - better string angle over the nut for the E and B strings.
