Hehehehhh... I'm a dad too! :D

My 3 years old girl loves music. I believe she'll "be" musically inclined. She can remember melody and "fake" the lyrics to songs after listening to it for a few times. Her fav song at the moment: Jason Mraz's "I'm Yours" + Sesame Street Allstars "Do De Rubber Duck".. Hehehehhhe.. I even have an iTunes fav song list for her.

She loves to drum too (hit Dumex milk cans with paintbrushes), and can pick up the rhythm to certain songs. And she loves my guitar, so i made her a Kerry King Custom V guitar from IKEA boxes! Still can remember the smile on her face the day she got "her" guitar.. PRICELESS!!!

well i enroll my son, now 7 yrs old to piano lesson 2yrs back. he cannot catch head or tail of it.

try to him into guitar, but his fingers are not long enuff to comfortably grab the smallest of classical guitars. but i did let him bang around on my bass, he got a bit of groove, he can slap and pop the strings following the music.

sad that he is not interested in music right now, since my ex-wife plays the piano and me guitar/bass.

thanks jerrroc221, looks can be deceiving
they can be "little monsters" most of the time
she is also my asst to my guitar relic projects, naturally.. lol

echoist, how you "custom" v from ikea boxes man..??
mind sharing the "secret recipe" haha btw where can i buy small sized guitars?

to add on, she is very specific on the guitar..
it has to have 1 volume & 2 tone knobs meaning at least 2 pups..? hehe

3 kids - all boys. 7, 4 and 1 year old. Teaching oldest 2 piano. Eldest son playing already. But hearing terrible. Can't even sing in tune. But he's trying. Second son - can't get him to sit for more than 5 minutes before he gets bored. Need to get another friend to teach him.

Different kids, different characters, different learning styles, so must use different techniques. Even my eldest son, I'm trying now not to teach him but pass him on to a teacher. It's hard for me to teach as I listen to him everyday and tends to correct him all the time. Right now, I had to consciously not correct him when he practice. Only once a week (formal lessons) do I give him more comments. Otherwise he gets really sick of me telling him what to do. But I hope to get him into jazz when he reaches grade 5 classical.

Youngest - don't know yet. He hums in tune, hums in rhythm - seemed to have the music genes. Don't know.

Hard for me to accept my eldest son appears to be tone-deaf when I have perfect pitch. But also very careful to take it easy on them. Otherwise may destroy their passion. Lots of work to maintain that passion in them.

I know what you mean. Got to tread very carefully - encourage, praise, not scold; so hard to be patient as they lose focus quickly and look out the window or their eye is caught by a toy car and they get off the stool to go drive it round the floor.

I'm hoping that by virtue of my boys seeing me playing the guitar they will soon want to copy. For now, I think piano will give the best all round grounding.

This workshop will be conducted by experts flying in all the way from India. It will be a fun, interactive and enriching workshop which will create awareness to Singaporeans about the amazing Vedic Mathematics methods.

Vedic Maths is a systematic, simplified approach to learning maths using mental calculation.

Vedic Maths is recommended for students from Primary 3 level onwards.
