Noel from Ugly in the Morning has got a Goldtop P90 Les Paul... think its a vintage one. Those P90s were ripping my solid state Roland JC50 or the speakers. No other guitar have done that before. That was my P90s moment of truth.

after watching the vid of the old man playing, I want p90s too!! plus they look real nice on an sg. I'm currently using alnico pro IIs on an sg standard. which p90s would you guys recommend? I'm going for a raw, big rocknroll kinda sound.

noob question,
the P90 pickups look bigger than normal single coil ones.
so if i wanna put them into my stratocater's neck position (my strat is S-S-H. humbucker in bridge), i have to change pickguards and adjust pickup heights all?

a P-90 cannot fit into a strat. Nor into a humbucking slot.

You will have to get something else. Something like a HX-85 fom www.kinman.com

jazzmaster pickups ain't no soapbars... doesn't even get near that tone.

even more... CIJ Jazzmaster pickups are just little strat pickups in a big plastic cover. tak rok!

hehe i know NUTS about p90s.. i'm under the impression that p90s = a fuller single coil clarity sounding pickup, but doesnt tt almost equate to a humbucker?

that aside, the layla cover was real good... i'm sure its also possible to achieve that tone with humbuckers...
