The HEAVY METAL thread!

to add on, from wikipedia:

[wiki/Ozzfest said:
Ozzfest is an annual festival tour of the United States (and in some years, Europe) featuring performances by many heavy metal and hard rock musical groups. It was founded by Ozzy Osbourne[1] and his wife Sharon Osbourne,[2] both of whom also organize each yearly tour with their son Jack Osbourne.[3] The Ozzfest tour has featured bands of a variety of genres within heavy metal and hard rock, including alternative metal, thrash metal, industrial metal, metalcore, hardcore punk, nu metal, death metal, gothic metal and black metal. Ozzy Osbourne himself, as well as his band Black Sabbath, has played the tour several times over the years

so it isn't an exclusively metal festival.

The iron maiden (or more precisely, bruce dickinson) vs sharon osbourne incident still fresh on my mind..haha.

Death - Scream Bloody Gore!!!

Fierce & brutal!!!

I love Death.....Chuck Schuldiner RIP

Crystal Mountain and songs like The Philosopher has paved the way for many bands like Cynic, Atheist and Behemoth and more. Not to mention the post-metal band Russian Circles.

IF I recall correctly, it was Atheist who inspired Death and Cynic to play technical death metal. And Watchtower was the band that inspired Atheist.

But....all of them were inspired by VENOM!!

but seriously.....Death were the pioneers of death metal....and Chuck is a legend

Setting rabid metalheads on unsuspecting targets never ceases to entertain pathe, you have to agree with me on that!

I'd leave the emos to the crusties though.

^True bro..

Nevermind them. If they think metal is noise, then they're no where near me or my music too..

Noise is way more wicked then metal.. Not everyone likes harsh noise..

ENOUGH SAID!

BTW I just got myself a copy of The Blackening by Machine Head. It's pretty amazing, been hooked to it since I got it. The only one from that I heard previously was Burning Red which was pretty nu metallish, so this was quite a big surprise.

There will always be people bashing genres they don't like...

Machine Head was rather nu-metallish at one point, and they weren't really as good as Blindspott or POD.. Glad they've returned to groove / post-thrash metal.

Anyone here likes Five Finger Death Punch?

hey man,

well for me, I'm into progressive death metal. Bands like Death, Necrophagist, Cynic and OF COURSE.. OPETH, with their brilliant song writing and jazz touch
