How about Mastodon? They are my fav band at the moment. New album drops late March, you can check out a song from it from their myspace page , it's pretty badass.

First heavy metal band that I stumbled upon by accident was King Diamond's Conspiracy cassette tape from my cousin's drawer. I was 12 at tat time. he conjured up this frightening tale abt how King Diamond ended up dead when he was shot in the forehead by a priest in a concert.
Later I found out that its a fake story... Well, my metalhead journey begins at a tender age of 10 when I was influenced by my classmate to listen to some old school malay rock band.. Wings!!!!! yeah!! Never turned back ever since..

Haha yes, one of the pioneers how could we forget. I saw this interview with dio on youtube about giving his thoughts on american mainstream music and the whole american idol crap a few weeks back. He nailed it spot on.

Ozzfest is something like an anually heavy metal traidition and has been going strong for quite a number of years now. Stoping it for one year might be nothing for us non-americans/europreans but if this occurs on a regular basis, it might affect metal music as a whole.
