The HEAVY METAL thread!

Some of my favorites are Queensryche, Dream Theater, Testament, Tesla, KISS, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, The Wildhearts, Machine Head, Dio, Extreme, Motley Crue
Yeh I know it's mostly old school stuff. I don't really have the time to keep up w/newer bands and too many of them seem to lack real singers in my opinion.

Now for something different - my work permit ends in May of this year and it looks like no one is going to hire me and I really don't want to drag all my cd's and dvd's back to the States so I have a bunch of movies for sale over on craig's list and I will probably be adding more to it

cd's I have that I'm willing to sell include Megadeth, Pantera, KISS,
dvd's willing to sell include Maiden,Anthrax, Poison,Quiet Riot

feel free to hit me up at - undoubtingthomas@gmail.com if your interested in a list and prices. I live in Woodlands area but I can travel (obviously)

Newer stuff lack real singers?

Have you seen Catharsis? Don't blame you if you haven't, can't find their CDs in anywhere other than Eastern Europe, fortunately I have some Russians coming over soon, who're bringing me the CDs!

nope, never heard of them.
will try to look'em up on myspace next time I am on there.

I heard about Five finger Death Punch recently late last year. The Way Of The Fist sounds like a title to some Kung Fu flick. I find their single The bleeding not bad. Ashes and the way of the fist are good too.

How about updating all the metalheads out there including me, about upcoming gigs or concerts of any metal bands both local and international.

Hell yeah I love meshuggah,opeth,orphaned land,melechesh,meza virs,into eternity,ankla,envy,cult of luna,calisto,origin,necrophagist,gamma ray,scorpions,slayer,metallica n etc but definitely not aerosmith though

Meshuggah's 'bleed' is one hell of a crazy song.
Tomas Haake is a freaking beast to keep up the crazy bass drums with the guitars.

Nile isn't progressive. They're technical / brutal death metal. Not the same thing. But between brutal death and prog death, I'd prefer prog death because overly-fast music gives me a headache these days. Must be getting old.

Anyone heard of the Swedish heavy metal band Wolf? Check out the song 'Voodoo'. Not bad, certainly, just not very creative. In my opinion.

DESTRUCTION!!!
German Teutonic Thrash Metal Legends!
check out Bestial Invasion and Metal Discharge.
Awesome Thrash Tunes.
:D
not to mention Sodom, Kreator, Annihilator, Warbringer, Testament, OverKill and Exodus!!!
they produce kick ass thrash tunes!
Metal up your Ass!!!
i should proberbly throw in Dethklok.
they're not thrash but they kick ass too!

Keep this thread going.Hahaha.Well for me when it comes to metal,I like Metallica,Iron Maiden,Black Sabbath,Ozzy Osbourne,Anthrax,Pantera and Megadeth.Still got a few more to list but lazy to.

I personally feel that Iron Maiden guitar solos sounds good but the guitars used by the guitarist are making it sound less powerful in the tone.Like as in they use single coil strats which gives this kind of weak and low grip kind of tone.Correct me if I am wrong.

Well Metallica,I like their stuffs but not the ones from St Anger which was a big letdown. As for their latest stuffs on Death Magnetic they sounded so much better than St Anger.

Hmmm, wonder if I don''t mind listing out which local metal band I like?
Suicide Solution,Ossuary,Psycho,Meza Virs,Bhelliom and a few other more.

Motley Crue and KISS I love them too.You know I saw a KISS display figure set at plaza sing last saturday. One of those toy and collectible shops on level 7.That KISS figure set was 4 KISS members with 3 hot girls.3 girls=6 boobies.HAHAHAHA.

Old school stuffs are good especially the late 70s and 80s and early 90s.

They have humbuckers on their strats.

Personally I agree with Donaldsps.. I find Iron Maiden's guitar tone, especially on earlier albums before they started experimenting with humbuckers, very weak and lacking, which was why I turned to Judas Priest instead because Judas Priest had what I wanted - heaviness and speed. Iron Maiden's a great band but somehow I think their tone could have been heavier or more prominent.

I just love old-school thrash, particularly teutonic thrash. But there're some modern bands that have old-school styling, like Warbringer, that are pretty cool. Testament's still my favourite even though they've changed a lot. From early Metallica-influenced melodic thrash to really heavy, brutal stuff these days. I can't quite say which is my favourite genre because I like anything that's nice.

I saw girlpants thread on alensana and i thought it'd be cool for the minority like me on soft to discuss about one thing we love. HEAVY METAL!

Cheers fellow metalheads!

oh trust me, you metalheads are no minority on soft.

i dont know why i pointed that out.....

I will listen to any form of metal as long as it's good. :D

I have a big liking for Watain and Mastodon now. Watain's Satan Hunger is just too addictive.

Mastodon is awesome! Pure genius. Proof that metal doesn't have to be extremely fast to kick some ass. I've been getting a lot into High on Fire, Candlemass and Orange Goblin these days.
