The Bassist's Effects Line Up

tried the bass blogger at yamaha today.
doesn't seem to sound like the demo vids online.
haiz, don't feel like giving up so i'm going down to blackwoods tmr or on fri to try it out again.

hope it can give me the low gain distortion i'm looking for.
haha.

btw any other recommendations for such stuff? =D

the cream pie deluxe is a highly rated discontinued pedal from ToneFactor. Good for low gain OD. If you can find one, it's not gonna come cheap.

'low-gain distortion'? would the homebrew hematoma fit the bill? i think that one's pretty warm

the best OD that i've ever used for low gain drive would be the english muffn. 100V AC through 2 12ax7s. basically it's the best drive pedal i've used for everything except for hardcore fuzz / gated fuzz.

sold it because it didnt fit on my board. if ehx xo'ed the tube series it would become my top priority. but fat chance.

i think i tried the hematoma before,
like way before i have this GAS for low gain distortion,
so i kind of forgot how it sounds like,

but then again,
both the hematoma and the muffin are over my budget.=[=[
don't mind trying them though.
HAHA.

then it won't be THAT much of a shock to me if the pt SOLO is announced.

"pedaltrain solo, when you only need the most essential pedal..."

but recession lah. companies cutting jobs. bassists cutting pedals

To Jbarker: The Diamond is extremely quiet, there's no detectable noise even with my earphones on. A plus on the EQ sweep knob which does wonders, note the tilt can be disabled via a toggle on the back of the unit. Transparent and allows enough headroom on a 9v for my Sterling. This pedal is great for smoothing the sound or you could use it as a cleen boost and tone shaper.

I've read reviews on the low frequency suck and emailed Diamond, basically for a 4stringer, the present compressor will do great but for a 5/6 stringer, perhaps a wait for the bass compressor will be wiser.

By far the neatest compressor I've tried though I've yet to take on the Demeter.
