The Bassist's Effects Line Up

My humble setup

pedalgua.jpg

bass > Moog > PSM > AMP
PSM > DD3 > ODB3 > Vwah

Since the Moog (true bypass) can be used as an EQ and also as a signal & low end booster that's why the bass goes to the moog first

Currently powered with 1spot adaptor for all the bosses. Moog uses a separate 9volt centre positive 300MA adaptor. urgh.

initially, those cheapos patch cable creates hum and that mmmmmmmmm sound when im not playing. then problem solve when i bought some fender tone master and planet waves patch cables.

the moog is also my phaser / auto wah / flanger / chorus - wee problem is that i have to write everything down and fiddle liddle the knobs & slider to set the effects

what else? next purchase would be the EB2 moog expression pedal, around SGD80. and too upgrade the wah, tho the current one works just fine - the range falls wee bit short. tried the EBS wah - and i swore i came in my pants lah.

rottenramone: oh yes it can flange & chorus. just need to screw around the moog for hours on end. the chorus bit is what i call a fake-chorus, not a real chorus but sounds like it. haha

funny...I don't remember Moogs being true bypass. Usually hear of people complaining about the how they suck tone or how they have to put them in bypass loops.

nope moogs are not true bypass. they also have a drive knob which cannot be switched off.

not too sure about that. because on the murf, on pattern 1 - there's no effects pattern, but the drive and output knob act as a signal booster. tweak the drive u get a mid growl, tweak output and the bass just gets loud. and u can use the sliders to act as an EQ. but if i disenggage the moog to bypass, the knobs / sliders have no effects on my tone. turn the knobs any other way - nope, no effects. as for tone sucking? nope, no problem here.

..

not an EQ but the sliders block out/adds whatever frequency when the signal passes thru it. and there's the pattern selector to see how u want the signal to be sequenced.

as for tone sucking, the drive knob will always affect the tone somewhat. and imho, its affecting the tone even when the knob is set at zero.

i've always imagined the moogerfoogers to be parts of an old analog synth where there's a signal generator, oscillator, modulator and filter. if u have a keyboard input and line the foogers up nicely, u get a minimoog :)

Some pedals are being sold. Some im keeping. But its much less of a hassle to travel with a smaller board, since there are gigs pretty often now.

The tone hammer is really good, i use it as a drive pedal, and take advantage of the EQ on it to dial in a dirt tone which i am very happy with!

i tried the tone hammer at tymc that day.

doesnt colour your sound too heavily. i like it, the mids adjustment thing was nice to tweak around

i'm quite impressed that i've managed to stay with this setup for so (relatively) long, so here it is on a new board :)
