The Bassist's Effects Line Up

Bros,

Need help from you guys on this. I currently have tried different positions for my effects and cannot decide on what is the best possible line up for my effects. Maybe you guys wanna share how you would arrange these pedals on the board.

BASS> COMP>LIMITER ENHANCER>CHORUS>OVERDRIVE>EQ>HARTKE BASS ATTACK> AMP

Actually depends on the bass you're using as well. If its an active bass, I suggest you do without the Hartke. I used to own one and it sounded quite horrid on active basses. Plus the drive control sounds really plasticky to me.

But if you want to go for a two channel set up, the Hartke can help alot. All you need is an A/B box. You can use the "Direct Out" as a dirt signal and place your dirt pedals in that and the "Parallel" Out as your clean signal. A/B when you need to. Here's a diagram on how its done. I do this with my Sansamp so I do know it works! :)

Wow...really detailed explanation and comes with diagram..reminds me of Science class in school.. I guess you are most probably right bro.. I am currently using an active bass and some settings on the pre-amp makes the tones sound "fake" or as you term it plasticky..haha.

Anyway, thanks for your diagram.. will definately try it..I guess I just need to find space on my board for an A/B box...its time to get rid of some effects then..

Just one last thing, I agree that there are better pre-amps around.. You may ask why choose "Hartke". My answer is simple.. its affordable and I guess "Value for money".. Of course, If I had the moolahs... I wont mind spending more on other better BRANDs..

Just change a few things. Humble small board.

yea, hows the bass juice? looks like a cool pedal.

i guess it'll only not be humble if the entire board is boutique
boss ce3 - ebs unichorus
korg dt-10 - peterson strobostomp2

but definitely still cool.. ;)

Bro tobias, the bassjuice is a real cool distortion pedal for bass, able to switch to high gain with fuzzy taste. As for chorus, i personally prefer Boss CE-2B than unichorus and of course if i got more budget i'll get a peterson. Cheers!

haha.. boss pedals kinda 'disturb' the original tone of the bass, tsk i don't really like... i get what u mean.. my guitarist like ce2's sooth-ness also..

but i see ur setup, more towards the TBY, remain original tone boutique setup.
i think a demeter optical comp in ur setup will be nice. ur sadowsky and bass RC works quite similarly actually.

i don't know if anyone here tried carl martin 's double bass chorus.. looks interesting.. but too bad 12V, for more headrm, but u got a fuel tank there (12V)... can consider..

Hmm...I was just thinking of replacing the CE-2B on my board. What did you not like about the Unichorus?

In my opinion, CE-2B is smooth & transparent and i just need a bit of chorus for my playing. i dun really max my chorus, just a little onli.

As for unichorus, good chorus too.. but the price more expensive than CE-2B. With my frequency of using chorus, CE-2B work just fine for me.. Cheap and good. 5SW, you own one too, what ur opinion?
