haha i just had to kaypoh into this thread! i've got half sleeve tattoos and sporadic ones and i even have friends who absolutely hate them! but then i'm a happy person who lives life with no regret

here's the thing. if you really want a tattoo, just make sure it's GOOD. don't skimp on the price or go to a seedy shop. just put it in the right place and you can still get a job. i have tattoos and piercings, i play drums in the pub/club circuit at night, and i can still troop off to school in the mornings and work in an advertising agency! some people will expect you to be a punk or a stupid inkhead when they see your tats. good, cause then when you prove them wrong they'll be more shocked than average! you just have to say or do one smart thing to change peoples' opinion! it's less work! haha

and re/miami ink, in all honesty their work is just okay. it's not terribly fantastic, though the boss is a good artist. those tattoo convention dudes are simply amazing!

How others in society look at people with tattoos is one thing, parental objections also a good consideration.....

But how about how the tattoo looks years down the road ah?

My uncle got tattoos on his arm. Like popeye like that....I thot it was scary when I was young. But now, old man liao. The tattoo shrunk and "crumpled" due to the sagging skin. The colour becomes shitty.

Then I was thinking to myself....wah biang, so sian. The tattoo will not look nice always lor. If skin sag then will look ugly. If become fat the tattoo will expand until out of shape, also ugly.

Better investment in other non permanent ways of expressing oneself ba.....hahaha....:mrgreen:

Haha...coarse wrinkled skin Ah Peks with tattoos. What a sight. The garang "tigers" and "dragons" of their youth now look like some greenish mangled crap! So beware tattoo dudes, you can't fight aging!

I totally agree man i got like 14 tattoos all over i dont regret , Its just how ppl look at it.

Society is changing now days and the goverment can never reject you if u've got all the paper work. Haha. All they want is money.

i feel most of the people who shun youths with piercings or tattoos mostly fall in the >40 age group, my parents included. They have this mindset that anyone with a tattoo or piercing is a gangster.

Of course that didnt stop me from getting pierced and inked.

But seriously i suggest not to get a tattoo, my friend got tattooes all over his body(ang-kong siao), he is regretting it.. but nothing can be done, laser treatment too expensive.
Anyway in SG, usually its the gangster that do it so yah... Btw my friend ex-con.

it all depends on how a person look at it. over in the US . tattoo is a form of art. over her in sg. u see a person having tattoo. the first impression is "Gangster" . yea. piercings are also a form of art. its jus that these arts are being misused here in singapore that it made everyone think towards the negative side of them.
