Superband on Channel U

..

just my short report on the superbands auditions

yup, lgf joined the auditions. quite an interesting experience. hardly see so many tv cams at our gigs. everything was done in a very methodical fashion: registration, phototaking, and we even have to do that slogan shouting thing. that was pretty damn weird to me.

apparently the flavour of the month was girl groups. never seen so many girl groups doing all the hits from SHE before. for the bands, they usually do either beyond or mayday.

soundwise, we couldn't really hear each other. it seems that our sound was channelled mainly towards the headphones of the judges (ours was Dasmond Koh, Jaime Teo and one other dude). 2 mins of play and instant cutoff, judges' comments and the final decision. if they play the superbands slogan, you're in. if you're out, they play the 808 cymbal efx.

there's another round next sunday at mediacorp studios which will eliminate more bands/groups. wish us luck. :)

..

hhahahaah

i don't think i can ever join those kinda groups. imagine singing and non stop synchronised dancing for 2 hours. then top it off the infinite costume changes. i'd rather take IPPT and get it over with man.

I think there are ppl out there who got my point and there are those who don't. I'm not trying to burst other ppl's bubble. Instead, I encourage ppl to have dreams and goals. As a matter of fact, less and less ppl do not dare to dream, coz Reality is just too harsh, and ppl's mindset is just too passive. What I'm trying to say is that if a person ever wanna think of making it in the music industry, he/she is gonna do some serious planning and researching. Joining a mediacorp money-making TV show in the hope of getting a contract and going far is the last thing you'll ever wanna do. Not sure if you're aware, but by joining such shows will ruin your future image. Yes you'll get exposure. But at the same time you're creating negativity for yourself. If its a programme dedicated to Rock band out there and to showcase their music, then perhaps it may be a different story. If thats the case then I don't mind consider enrolling.

Kit Chan is a talent. She can really sing. Guess where's she now? Why is this so? Tanya Chua rocks too. And what happen to her now? How about our old F4? Can they sing? But before they disband, weren't they storming across Asia? Now I'm not saying that the Music industry cannot be done. Its just not so easy, thats all. You need to find out how it can be done for you, and to prevent yourself from falling into the pitfalls along the way...

come on.... but they never stop rock bands from joining also what, you mean if rock band join, then they cannot showcase their own music meh ?

They don't really have much restrictions on anything what basically you're still absolutely 100% free to express yourself in anyway you want except its not a solo act and its gotta be in chinese. Its not selling out what, unless you're PERSONALLY Playing something you dont believe in.

If a band genuinely loves playing pop, whats wrong with that.

OF COURSE MONEY HAS TO BE MADE. If not who pays for to even RUN the Show.

Why would joining a competition ruin your future image? and what negativity? What Kit Chan, F4, Tanya Chua, these things aren't related to joining a competition on national tele. Its basically artist management. So what if a band wins, a contract is not gona be forced down their throat what, they still can decide whether or not to sign it or not what. Hey you trying to scare ppl issit?

dude, not trying to personal attack you or anything, but seems like you're dispencin your negativity in the form of "friendly advice"

The whole Superband issue, is just really simple.
If you really believe in your music and want to know how the ppl in Singapore will react to it. No harm trying. Seriuously what is so gravely precious that stands to be lost? 20 dollars?

rottenramone, c u next wk, man....... RN is also in.......

to all...... the judges dun really care wat we play as long as in chinese lor.......

btw....... 4 those who noe 天 地 會 (Heaven & Earth) ........ they also in........

what i saw is most of the rock pop bands got in the first round, the 5566, SHE were the first to leave... next sunday will be mostly a battle of the bands.. 8)

My band was alright lah... I was glad everyone was clappin after we're done.

Its so freakin different when we're doing something in chinese. people actually clap.

The judge says we sound "underground" and "alternative" and the other desmond guy is super doubtful of my chinese abilities LOL.

Oh yeah, see all of you other bands at Mediacorp on sunday baby.

RustyNailz also quite good. For those who were there on e 1st day, got this band using a "Siren" efx loop for the beginning of the song. Dunnoe wat deir band name is, but they are quite 'zai' as well :D
