Hey guys,

Wanna find out what are your takes on getting an srv tone...

what are the effects possible to replicate?

What fender amps to use / are there any alternatives beside using a fender amp

And for me a v impt question....what are the ways to practise using 0.13 gague strings without having to get your fingers bleeding!

i think SRV tone comes Mainly from his strat and his brutal fingers.

i think a normal strat with .11s you can get very decent SRV type clean tone already.. thru a decent fender tube amp...a ts808 ... i think you are there.

ofcourse you must be able to play pride and joy ,lenny, texas flood and little wing back to back with no mistakes infront of a large critical audience.

if by then you still dont sound like him ... then i dunno what can.

OLD STRAT BODY WITH ABSORBED mojo over many years of club playing + JUMBO frets + texas special pups + nice warm amp = artificial SRV tone ...

I did up 3 SRV releics previously - all sold - doing up no.4 for personal keeps next!

wad the hell....ive got the cowboy hat though.....

I read he didnt use texas pickups...jsut standard fender single coils...but the wounding was reversed....

He used v low ouput single coils actually, the rest is a cranked amp until the power tubes r cooking, n a TS808 to drive the tubes. Of course also the strings.

But u gotta also learn his right hand, the way he hits the strings... Other than that, feel the blues:)

In a recent publication of Guitar World, they revealed a Soldano SLO-100 amp head that Vaughan comissioned before he died.

Hmm.

yeah, I read about the low-output pickups, that's why his tone was clean.. however, what he did do was raise the pickup height.

You guys heard his brothers song 6 strings down? man tt one hits you deep when you hear the lyrics...

So how did he vary his gain from while playing live ? just crank the gain on the amps?

hao_ran, gain/distortion of an amp can be controlled by just simply controlling volume knob of the guitar. That works on most tube amps.
