oh well, i'm neutral. lol for once i did have the same thinking. Purely i guess it should go to jealousy. :lol:
yes, his guitar skill aint amazing like vai, malmsteen etc. But i do not agree to the saying "he should not be using JEM"
as in, does one who plays like vai qualifies to play a JEM?
Does one who pocess the skills of John Pt qualifies to play on stage?
look at all the punk rock bands man.
We can't expect everyone to play like Jerry C everytime someone cover that song.
Limp bizkit covered sanatarium (metallica). They dont go shredding during the solo didnt they?

That zakk wylde LP does it really belongs to him?
the first time he had a guitar on tv was a samick explorer or V during one of the SG idol shots.
then the 7-11 ad had a zakk wylde lp.

Give the guy a break pls. He didn't say he was going to shred anyway what. Why are you guys so against him when he has not done anything wrong? And he's playing for the sake of charity too. I am not sly fan, but, pls..give him a break. Do some of you guys have to start criticizing everyone who isn't as good as you?? He was approached to do his part for charity, he did his best, and that's all that matters. Peace.

I saw one of the interviews before the show, "I'm going to play one song which I arranged myself, Canon in D".

Besides, when he first became famous, he got interviewed and it was shown on tv. He showed off his Samick Explorer and said this on tv, "this is my custom guitar".
Oh man I told my friend this and guess what, I had a Samick Explorer back then. Hoho. I'm so proud to own a signature guitar. Slyvester Samick Explorer.

Haha... yeah I guess the main issue is that he is trying to take credit for something he did not compose...
Anyway whatever guitar he uses, it makes no difference cos the person playing is still the same be it samick explorer or Epiphone signature Zakk camo guitar or even the Jem he just used.
But the only thing intolerable is the fact that he just put guitarist in a bad limelight... by claiming to compose something which already was compose by another. He also seems to put the signature guitar to shame (imagine someone who don't know who endorse the JEM and say it sucks because Sly use it) also because he uses a back track to cover up his fault and still act as though he hammer everything 100% (I think if he is humble, he could have gain more support).
Guitarist are not actors they don't potray fake images just to please... they are very true to their feelings that's why they are special... yet he immitate other stunts and yet it feels so fake. I think if he is a true guitarist, he would have like to acknowledge where he drew inspiration for that piece or who compose it. In fact if he were to be humble and say that playing guitar is what he likes and he will perform better in the future, I think most of us here will salute him.

this thread expose the evil side of human. how we are so easily jealous and intolerant of another person’s fault.
when we keep complaining that people dont support local music/musician, we can see very clearly why now.
maybe you are playing music as a hobby and not entered the working life. for those who need to put the food on the table, slog day and night, music/entertainment as a career, i respect you.
