Nice, bro. But I can't really see what you used to replace the rack rails. Mind dropping clues?

hi thoa, thanks!

i drilled holes straight into the wood. and mounted the rack with screws. the size of the RAST bedside table fits nicely. the top cover used to be the shelves for the table. heh. basically, the shelving units, now form the top and bottom of the rack. i might flip it around and drill the other side when i have time as i want to squeeze it all in a bit more to make space for more units in future. if in doubt, Pm me! cheers

haha geez! I almost bought that, in the walnut stain to put my amp on the other day.

really tempting for like 16.90-17.90

cool idea!

yep. one of those things in life you can actually call cheap and good. although i'm not sure it can sustain the weight of an amp? careful! :)

hi lou5y - first one's my soundcard, an Echo Layla 3G. 2nd one's a Studio Projects VTB1 Mic preamp. used mainly for bass and vocals. Last one's a TC Electronics M350. Meant for general use but i use it for guitar fx. cheers

hows the Studio Projects VTB1? I'm looking at getting a decent preamp for vocals and bass as well. Any suggestions?

what's your budget? the VTB1 is truly cheap and good. i won't say it's dead quiet but it does lend a sparkle to my recordings. having said that, my tube blend knob does not go beyond 11 o'clock, and it has no on/off switch. bummer. but i've learned to live with it. some folks changed the tube and reported better results. i am not too convinced the tube actually plays that big a role.

anyways, for it's price (think i got it for about $220?), well worth it imho. i plug my bass direct into the vtb1 and into my soundcard. cheers

Budget is somewhere around $200.

My current set up is,

Mic --> Profire 2626 --> Mac running Logic

I've read that the ART Tube MP is decent and a real killer for that price. Around US$50. It would be good to have 2 pre channels as well, for stereo acoustic guitar recordings. And tube is preferred.
