i'll be playing my first show with my 7th this weekend at bukit timah plaza

my band came down to tune up their drum kits and check out the sound. took awhile before i found a ok setting through a 50 watt hughes and kettner amp. there was a 60 watt smarvo there too but it made my whole rig sound muffled

any tips with for settings with solid state amps guys? i noticed this harshness as compared to the warmth that i get with my toobes.

Hmmm perhaps u wanna try setting the smarvo to a clean setting, and then start tweaking ur eq section starting from the 12 o'clock position to get ur desired tone, normally it is not advisable to dime anything on solid state amps but thats just me, hope this helps bro.

If you are like 1foot from the speaker ...i can't help you

When dearson played life with a Smarvo, i was there and it was pretty easy tweak to get a decent tone.
USE THE CLEAN CHANNEL ...and tweak amp EQ to taste.

Thats it !:-D

ah yeah. my friends said my tone sounded nice from the audience area. so maybe its cos of my positioning heh

i have always been intrigued by how all these sound/acoustic thingies work o.o

Those speakers on the smarvo are perty thin sounding too.....try it with it's own gain you will see.
So now, this weakness on the smarvo, will prompt you to tweak the amps EQ for nice full and fat cleans first,...then pump in the 7th.

I hope this helps....

I finally tried it personally together with the boosty and citrus. If I was a guitarist I will definitely buy it. I bought a citrus for my bass though :D Can't wait to try it out during band practice this thurs.

Here I am to review the Citrus! 1 thing for sure, I will NEVER ever sell it to anyone :D
Somehow, before I used the Citrus, my bass tone/sound will be pretty muddy at certain times. Today, at my jam, with the Citrus plugged in, the notes I played seemed to be much clearer and playing was almost effortless. I used to whack on my bass strings while playing songs like kickstart my heart (motley crue). With the Citrus, I didn't have to. Oh, and although I don't slap and pop much on my bass, this pedal makes slapping such a joy, really. Even my guitarist (Nailhood) tried it on my bass and he was like, wow. He bought 1 too. In short, I love the Citrus. It is indeed something refreshing, haha. Thanks Goose! It really is money well spent.

Hmmmmm citrus eh......never really dig comps cause of excessive noise.......but seems like the citrus is a nice little gem for the 7th.......hmmmmmm aiyeah headache lol.

A compressor doesn't necessarily add noise... it just raises/lowers volume. If you got noise in your signal to begin with, a compressor will just make that noise louder because it evens out the volume.

That's a very layman description though...

The Citrus is a nice compressor for those into the optical sort. Or if say you can't stand the usual Dynacomp vibe. Its pretty much a set & forget thing too. Doesn't squish as much as a Dynacomp but I think its enough for most applications - e.g. comp @ 3 o'clock for Every Breath You Take. Adds a lot of punch.

Makes me wanna buy a bass guitar and use the citrus with the boosty... Tried playing the bass and slapping never was so fun! :)

Certainly a good buy!

I find noise mostly stems from using crappy compressors like the Boss CS-3 and ross based compressors (keeley comp included, sorry keeley fans).

I'm using a Maxon CP101 Opto Comp and its really subtle. Turn it on, its not heard. But turn it off and you'll miss it. A good compressor imo should be felt and not heard. Not much noise added too. But the subtle effect is there.

But im now stuck in the dilemma....after a/b-ing the citrus with the maxon at Goose's house (both are very similar comps and are optical based in design) I think the Citrus is more transparent and less noisy. The Maxon has more sustain though. Hmm, maybe i'll have to play both more....when are we jamming again Nailhood :D
