Sansamp GT2? A little disappointing.

heres how the gt2 i have sounded like with the setting which threadstater mentioned in the other page. Switches all up, hi-10 o'clk, low- 9 o'clk, drive-noon

recorded via mic up bass amp with tele using bridge pickup. Chuggah can?

duh!

Bro Pathein, thanks for the recording. I believe the drive setting for the TS was full. But apart from that the settings for the GT2 is correct.

However, you are using a bass amp yes? IMO, I dunno if it would make a fair comparison cos the TS is using a 15 Watt Ibanez Amp, which I was assuming, as I do believe most of us here, is a guitar amp. And is the setting of the amp similar to TS's setting as well?

But let's see what the TS have to say.

haha, of course it aint a fair comparison, that i agree.

was just curious on reading that the gt2 sound slightly weak and thin. So wanted to try out and hear how it is through a different amp.

Ah, ok. Heh.

I have to say that doesn't sound weak at all. But the low end properties of the bass amp of course is a huge factor in determining that (which you would already know, heh), hence the suggestion to pump up the bass to TS.

Nah you're not rude, man. Just that I think most of us are getting as flustered and frustrated as you are with your tone

This thread has made me realise we indeed do need a *slaphead* emoticon... His bass setting is at 9 oclock, and he says it's not thick enough... wow... Really? ;)

heh, iam back again. This time round same setting as before(gain at 12 o'clk), but through a geetar amp. Again, it aint a fair trial, coz even if its a geetar amp, its with 2x12 speaker config.

the low on pedal is at 9 o'clk with a tiny sounding tele using bridge pickup(heard at the end)

duhh

something bout the gt2, which i read long long time ago(maybe 7/8 years back). The high and low circuit of the gt 2 interact according to adjustment to add/cut mids and not just bass and treble increment/decrement

1:01 - 1:06.... Wah, Pathein bro, you anger ah when you play that?

The 2x12 helps to give it that low end, but just BARELY holding it there. More a rock tone, which I wouldn't exactly call hi-gain. I would personally would turn up bass a little more.

I dread to hear how it sounds on a 15w Ibanez...

haha, anger no lah. More of revisiting my my 16 years old self. Have not play with those gain thingy for long long while, not to mentioned any palm muting.

i supposed thru a small amp, the sound be real tiny. I was using a 8 inch speaker, 15 watt amp for longest of time when starting out. There was no internet then, prolly make it easier to just practice with whatever i have then to worry bout tone. Heh, a gt2 thru the small amp sounded so much better then a metalzone. I thought i was getting tone already, at that point of time

hmm, the hi gain thingy actually reminds me of mosquito ring tone. Remeber that almost so soft tone sometime back where older folks cant hear while young people can hear crap?

i played with those during that time(incoporate into background of some quiet ambient track to irritate those who are sensitive to high frequency), the gain level of that barely audible sound is actaully much higher than any high gain geetar sound. Heh, but of course no chuggah chuggah headbanging moment

Actually, my reference for "hi-gain" is technically wrong ah. I tend to associate "hi-gain" more to a scooped mid tone rather than something to do with the gain knob. Extremely bad habit of mine, I confess. Maybe it's just an impression I have... But I keep seeing new guitarers refering the scooped tone as "hi-gain metal tone".

Of course, this only leads to more confusion. When the tone doesn't cut through, what do they do? Turn up the gain high.

*insert slap forehead moment*
