I went to try the new Sahasrara... Me likes...
Don't know the diff between this and the old one, but this sounds quite clean, and seems to be very suited as a gain booster. As a volume booster, I might think it's a bit transparent, and might add too much squishyness to the original distorted tone. But use this to drive an overdriven amp, and I'm sure it'll be really nice.
The pedal has a very nice touch with the pre-gain. It adds a little edge to it. The pedal works nicely with single coils, but I have to say, a humbucker really shines through it. I used the demo guitar from TY, which was an S series with a Fralin med. output humbucker in the neck. The tones that came through were sweet, but not muffled. The gain knob was still too low gain for my liking, but very good at keeping the tone sweet with good sustain. Using this with a totally clean amp might not be a good idea, unless all you want to do is play blues. Unless you stack something else with it.
But my fav feature was the pre gain knob. It can give you so much more character and dynamics when you play around with it... I didn't go home with it because I'm already very happy with my CM2 Tube Overdrive from Hardwire, but the Sahasrara is definately a good choice for those looking for a more hi-fi version of a TS9.
Nice work Edder...
