hmmm, after 4 pages, was just wondering, if lets say someone is selling some gear for too good a price thats almost like free and the buyer didnt realise the actual value thus the stated price. Will anyone, as a buyer, tell them a reasonable resell value that might be few hundred more and proceed to buy it from them?

Yes but in my case, it wasn't a few hundred more, and the seller insisted on letting it go at that original low low low low price. 8)

I say depends. It is the responsibility of the seller to place a price tag imo. Getting the buyer to quote, then going round and round with pricing -because the seller needs a certain sum to finance something- is not exactly reasonable to me.

you have met a a nice dude selling, how many wud be be as righteous as you had been to tell them, as in people in the thread here wud do that at the expense of few hundred more...

But its ok, for me, i wont tell them the price and will still get from them if theres such chance. Iam dodgy like that

maybe an extra info, he told me he sold his MIM Fender Richie Sambora model for $350, so maybe he expects me to sell mine @ the same or lower price.. oops did i leak out too much info?

heh heh...

I'm not sure what's the problem with low balling.

In my opinion, if the guy quotes you a ridiculous price, just ignore it. I never understand why S.O.F.T forums are full of people complaining about things from Swee Lee to lowballing.

If you can't do anything about it, then let's pls talk about something more constructive.

I think you should re-read the thread again. In particular, hifi-killer and momorockstar's experiences. And the constructive ideas suggested (blacklist).

Yes, a very nice chap he was.

This thread is good to raise aware-ness too... think Courtesy, think Hua Yu (Mandarin) Cool, think Speak Good English...

my solution to lowballers is to put a disclaimer like this.

All prices are FIXED.

Any attempt to engage in negotiation will allow the seller to insult the buyer and the buyers next of kin.

I can't help but realise that has been happening with the lowballed! Hahaha...

I think the label "Low Ballers" can only be applied to people who ask for ridiculous discounts.

For instance, a pedal that you are selling for SGD 200, and a Low baller askes if he could have it for SGD 80.

SGD 150- SGD 180 all still ok lah. it really depends on the seller and the buyer having an agreement thats all.

Sometimes its ok to listen to reason lah IMHO, some of them are just honest kids who really want your stuff but really do not have enough money for it.

But sometimes these people will buy your pedal cheaply with the sob stories and then mark it up and resell it after a while.

Also I think its wrong to shame or humiliate any of them, as business dealings should be kept confidential.

So, its entirely up to the seller lah, if can agree, agree lor, cannot then wait.

Sellers aren't angels too sometimes. :D
