Re: Pedal modification

Sorry if this is a noob question, but after looking ard some threads about distortion pedals, i noticed a lot of people saying modding the pedals. What does modding do? And how much would it cost? cuz i'm looking for a dist pedal myself. Thanks for all of ur time.

Modding pedals in which the pedals suit the tone that you want, not you suit the pedals. maybe for more low end, mids, less or more dist etc......

modding = altering the pedals to your ideal specs/sound. pricewise will vary.

generally if you dont really know what you are looking for, then modding would not be of much use to you. although the general consensus is that the modded variations sound better to the stock ones.

what is your current setup? (amps, guitar, pedals etc) what stuff do you play?

physically, modding can include replace/remove certain electronic components such as resistors/caps/diode/op-amps, adds switch/pots for selectable features, rewiring etc etc

it's to help improve or create more types of sound of the pedals (usu boss, ibanez, some proco, some mxr etc). Usually in the areas of eq, types of overdriven sound, bypass, external control for flexibility etc

people try hard to be differant or just try to go against the flow ....freakin rebel wannabe ya know .....

boutique sucks... buy SG made pedals... wotever that comes out from SG is not boutique... so SG made pedals are the way to go.

right bro goose bro?

oh ok thx for all replies... well basically im using a fender 60th anniversary strat and a vox pathfinder 15r.... just want more distortion to make it sound better cuz im trying to play deep purple/gnr stuff but i find the sound too clean not "rock" enough lol...
