ic..i saw some reviews on MIC epiphone LP standard...they seems to give a rather gd rating for it...hmm....

I have done so much research on Epi LPs. There ARE good comments. But more bad ones. Epi's made in china's seems to be really giving people lots of problem ... oww.

If you are reading from HC reviews, take it with a good pinch of salt. The reviews are biase and many of them are probably kids who have bought it as their first guitar. The HC forum has better reviews if you can find some (Use the search functions). However, thegearpage forums tops them all from my own experience. Those guys there know what they are talking about.

The country of origin normally will be stated at the back of the headstock, on a small sticker.

Swee Lee 's coming EOY sale only sells displayed items ?
Or you can order guitars not on displayed too ?

As far as I know, displayed only. The Laneys should be good buy though.

so the epiphone in swee lee now r all made in china?? any place that we can find MIJ epiphone LPs?

From what I know, not at the moment. And for side info. They are currently backordered in some cases. If you really want one, try those large US online retailers like Music123 or Musician's Friend etc.

They however are not strictly Jap market. That is untrue. Why would it be domestic if they advertise the Elitist in US Guitar mags? The domestic ones should be like Orville which is currently not in production.

ic..thx lifehouse...oh ya..those reviews i read r from ultimate-guitar...but most of them r MIK LPS...

For tabs they are a relatively good site. But the reviews are very one side biased. Alot are sadly posted by begineers who just bought their first guitar.

dun get the standard epi LP. my friend's one, less than a year old, had lots of problems with it. muddy pickups, bad tuning, poor workmanship, and yesterday he told me the strap pin came out, and the wood became mashed up now cant screw back 8O

hey! this is cool!

1) i was wondering which humbucker - the ToneZone or SuperDistortion - to get for my Pacifica 312 MII (H-S-S)?

the EQ on both seems to be modelled about the same... just that theres a 50mA difference in the output and the magnet used is different... + the huge diff in DC resistence what ever that means...

how do these 2 weigh up against each other? cuz i've been getting these 2 pop up in either 1 or 2 in the pickup selector thing.

2) and for the neck singles, ProTrack or Chopper? leaning closer to the ProTrack currently cuz of the rolled off treble but still quite uncertain as they both still pop up as 1st and 2nd consistently for the pickup-selector guide

3) Lastly... the middle pickup is a headache... i have the slightest idea what the get...

i have concluded with 4 options of either the Chopper, or the Virtual 2s of the neck/bridge/middle variations...

help pls? thx!

The TZ and SD are very different sounding pups. The TZ is bassier and heavier sounding, plus it has a modern slant, hence terrific for chugga. The SD is more... vintage, less bassy... think KISS tone.

DC Resistance tells you how thick/warm the tone is... higher the warmer/thicker.

Basically, do you want modern or vintage? Lots of bass or less (but tighter) bass?

I have no idea abt the chopper or protrack, but why not a Tonezone S? :)

Middle, just take a simple middle coil, hum-cancelling or not. I would advice a weaker coil, like the Blue Velvet or a twangy thing like the Class of 55. Reason being for versatility's sake.

im thinking of getting the Epi les paul custom, but whats the difference between the wat Maple Flame top and the verneer one? how does it contribute to the tone? Are the difference in sound big?

Tonezone S for neck pickup? it didn't appear in the recommended pickups in the pickup finder thingy on their site leh... but if i take a tonezone on the humbucker... eh?

due to the overwhelming response here (i didn't expect a 3-page entry on the first day), if i ommit any queries, do PM me instead of further requesting it here. 8)

if you refer to my first post, price enquiry isn't part of the discussion- IMO this would be best checked with the dealer. apologies...

please help me remind others (politely of course) if a certain issue had been addressed. thank you my friends...

JEM_JR_BK_1M_01.jpg

those who are after the JEM Jr, this guitar was given a 6/10 rating, in the previous SOFT review database. all in all, this model fell short of the JEM expectations (expected as it represents one in outline, not in terms of feel & tone) & isn't as good as the mid-priced RG3XX series in the market.

if you are after JEM tones/ vibrato bridge tuning stability from this one, do reconsider. however, if this guitar feels good after you've auditioned it (& only after you've auditioned it), there's no harm getting one @ 50% off the list price...

I shall start the ball rolling. Hey Subversion, am contemplating between the Epiphone LP Standard Plus and Epiphone LP custom, from the website i think the main diff is the mahogany/alder top (for Custom) and the flamed maple top (for Standard Plus). Well, it seems there are lotsa "enemies of Epi LP" out there, maybe you can give a balanced view of this?

Lotsa people snatching LPs during the sale, maybe this would help? Thanks Sub! :):):)

even Epi @ their website did a disclaimer by putting a body material option, so which wood is masked underneath the finish of both guitars, is really anyone's guess...

again, i'd like to advice everyone here that Epi's take on the Gibson models isn't true to form; many different models feel the same neck-wise, among other things to note. if you are after an Epi LP, get one which you like in terms of feel & tone, disregard the 'Std/ Custom/ Classic/ etc' tag. i'd certainly urge you to get one with reputable pickups on board as oppossed to the default Epi ones, which don't do justice to the guitar. however, if you are intending to swap 'em afterwards, then it's a good move tone-wise.

in my books, the signature Epi LPs do better than their non-signature ones, i currently favour the Boneyard & Zakk Wylde model not because they are endorsed by popular blokes but because they are good guitars per se.

concerning LPs falling apart etc; more often than not, over time, it's the owners who are to blame. i've played countless Epi LPs in the stores, i have not come across one with faulty hardware/ electronics (Chinese ones included). however, in due fairness, i've not wittnessed the durability of these guitars. i can however attest to the fact that, the Epi electronics/ hardware are less durable in general & certainly not to be paired with an overtly aggressive user/ negligent owners.

hi subversion..is ibanez SZ320 gonna be on sale? what colours will be available coz the previous sale got limited colours onli..
