pinch harmonics

maybe it's ur pickups too because some pups like the tonezone can sustain the harmonics real well...

True there are pickups which have great harmonic response. But it doesen't mean you NEED these pickups to play harmonics. Even though the response may be weak, if you can't trigger it, you can't trigger it. No pickup replacement will give that to you.

Many players here are blinded by the fact that its ultimately the player, not the pickups , that gives the sound. Pickups are merely secondary.

haha yes it's more on technique, just advertising the tonezone pup

Hey, when you get the hang of pinch harmonics, work on doing it on the lower strings. And when thats done, rem to throw in wide vibrato to make it wail!

Here's a short vid I did up.. doing harmonics on the 5th and 6th strings, on the 3rd and 1st frets, with vibrato... you can see how ppl like Zakk Wylde with really wide and fast vibrato, can make it sound really awesome.

Anyway, on a side note, what BlackMoo says its true... but there are pups are do make it easier to obtain harmonics... and its definately not a cheat because like what he said, if you can't do it, you can't do it. If you CAN do it, then you have pups are don't emphasize the harmonics, you are pretty much back to square 1. ;)

Was searching through topics to help myself more... Am I correct to say pinch harmonics is also call artificial harmonics? I only heard of NH, and AH before... 8)

Thx!

D - 4th string
G - 3th string
B - 2nd string
e - 1st string

correct me if i'm wrong. when i was starting out, i always think the thick E is 1st string. or is it?

Yes, its the same thing... Pinch harmonics is the technique while artificial harmonics is the sound which pinch harmonics produced.

The 1st string is the thinest string, while the 6th string is the thickest.

Haha, knowing this fact doesn't really improve one's skill though.
