how to do them? I can't seem to get it correct. any tips? my pinch harmonics dun haf that nice scream and don't sustain well. am I muting at the wrong place or something?

anyone can show a video or something? and also, can show me an example of a song that uses pinch harmonics nicely cos i'm not really sure how to use them in a song. thanx.

maybe it's ur pickups too because some pups like the tonezone can sustain the harmonics real well...

but then again, maybe it's ur technique. my teacher told me is after u pick instantaneously u touch the string with ur nail or flesh, i didnt get it but kept practising so improving

this things will come naturally as u try n try n try...u will juz naturally know it when u feel it coming...its all abt the feel bradder...and ya maybe ur pickup play a part too..n volume...the louder u play the better i guess...normally it will be easier doing it with the bridge pickups..

zak wylde got loads of pinch harmonic in his playing.

Pantera: "cemetery gates", cowboys from hell and the solo from "flood" are couple of songs where pinch harmonic are execute tastefully...

Pinch harmonics execution depends on the amount of gain, the higher the gain the easier, and the position, there are "sweet spots" to pick where the pinch harmonic will sound, u have to trial and error.

since you posted that you can do it.. i presume u know how it works... one thing that will affect it where u do it... at different parts of the string a differen scream will form so why not try moving up n down n find ur right scream..

use the bridge pickups. harmonic are very weak on the neck pickups.
actually the 4th string, the G-string is the easiest to get a pinch harmonic,at least for me,
to get the squeal, u need to bend and vibrato the pinch harmonic

I got the pinch/artificial harmonics by accident last yr & i didnt evn know it had a name. I called it "The High Pitch".

True there are pickups which have great harmonic response. But it doesen't mean you NEED these pickups to play harmonics. Even though the response may be weak, if you can't trigger it, you can't trigger it. No pickup replacement will give that to you.

Many players here are blinded by the fact that its ultimately the player, not the pickups , that gives the sound. Pickups are merely secondary.

it can be done on bass right i saw billy sheehan teaching it in a video. jaco does this on amazing grace.

Hmm

I watch Zakk Wylde video Live at Detroit & he super pull off so much pinch harmonic I almost fainted.

Maybe u try this -> pick a note & instanteously place ur thumb above it as u wld do a harmonic.

hope it helps.
